Trying out Steam pic hosting for screencapping, lemme know if they don't show.

Anyway, here's the empire:

The latest city founded on pigs might be a reach, I don't really know because I don't have any neighbors.  I've recently uncovered Elohim borders to the SE, but I have no intention of meeting them (I think it's Qg?), because Cultists will totally wreck me.  I'm pretty darn backwards, cities are too small and my science rate is probably terrible.  I only have three cottages, focused too heavily on building mines, I think.  I was going to tech to Drama after Fishing, and I've tried to avoid building monuments to save hammers, but I might want to go for BW next since Ellimist just took the free Bard (maybe; could also have been Freakshow points at work).  Or perhaps not, Cultists will murderize my units whether they have copper weapons or not, and I have nothing to fight currently anyway.

Great Sage pops soonish, going to bulb KoTE so I can start building Planar Gates.  Note sure how I'll actually produce them in decent timeframes, perhaps I need Slavery.

I'm kind of out of this game, both mentally and competitively.  It's just this thing I play for two minutes once a week.  I think I might be kind of done with 4X games, I burnt out on Civ VI in record time.

Hmm, what else, I guess I don't actually need many more techs in this game.  Sailing, KotE, Sanitation, BW... that should do it.  Probably Drama too, because spending 40 hammers on a monument X however many cities still seems like a waste.  Should I be so lucky to last that long I'll just build Succubi and Witches forever.

Capital can do like 3-turn Settlers even without Godking, so that's cool too.  Plenty more land to claim.  Need more Workers though.

Can see them fine.

Ditto, though I'm enjoying my Civ 5 PBEM as a last hurrah. Civ 5 is pretty enjoyable as a low effort one turn per day game.

Next game I'll play is the friggin' Tides of Numenera CRPG that I backed a decade ago. It'll be out in february and I'm feeling compelled to make a little report about it, after all the time waiting.

You should totally report on Tides of Not Planescape Torment! Partially because I'm curious to know if the game is actually worth purchasing, but also because I have a certain appreciation for your little drama with it Allears

Decent turnpace lately, here's the empire as of T90:

I'm expanding at a decent clip, but I'm terribly behind and destined to die to Cultists in the nearish future. I'm teching Sailing next, followed by Masonry to try and build a network of forts, but I'm between two significantly more advanced Spi civs running OO, one of whom can use his WS to get Cultists for free, and I can see the writing on the wall. It doesn't matter much anyway, I'll be without desktop access for three months starting in early May for work-related reasons and that'll spell the end of my participation in this game. Should I still be alive at that point I'll either convert to AI or see if someone wants to take over my skeletal empire.

For the record, I'm fairly sure the person who has been sending out diplo messages is Qg, which is based on him sending me a few over the past week. I'm guessing he simply forgot that we were using AI diplomacy, rather than assume he's suddenly attempting to subvert the game, but he ought to speak up at some point.

Ah, looks like Qg has gotten tired of waiting around and is ready to start mulching my empire. Well, good for him. I've been complacently not building forts and galleys for far too long. I figured he (and my other neighbors) were just waiting until I abandoned to the AI in a few weeks, lest I get invigorated or something and actually rouse myself to kill a unit or two, but perhaps he realized that I'm a very soft target either way. I do have a handful of Mobius Witches, so his Cultists will eat the occasional fireball as they water-walk their way across my empire, but they all have March thanks to the new Elohim bonus, so I don't foresee it mattering much. Not that I really care either way, since again I've only got maybe 5 more turns left before I'm done regardless.

Well, at least I finally got to make a little mischief before leaving the game:

The actual log of damaged units scrolls on for quite a bit longer. Comes right on the heels of blight hitting too, so there's going to be a lot of redlined units on the board (doesn't look like many actually died though).

I also accepted requests from Ellimist for my map and all of my mana. I know that may sound bad, but I firmly believe he deserved it. First because he isn't running away with the game (to the best of my knowledge), and therefore I'm not kingmaking, and second because since early in the game his civilization was my only ally, never threatening my poorly-defended border cities, and more importantly propping up my empire by gifting me his excess luxuries. This was the first time he ever asked for anything to be gifted in return.

Anyway, this game obviously wasn't my best performance, and I honestly feel kind of embarrassed since there's no way Avarex isn't top-tier now with his amazing traits & all of the crazy advantages the Sheim now have. Fact is, I'm just completely burnt out on Civ IV and EitB both. If I ever join another PBEM, it'll be for Civ VI, and months down the line (for practical reasons, of nothing else). Still, this game was never a burden to play, and I hope the rest of them enjoy the experience.
