The First Civ6 Lurker Thread

By the way, it tried to count their moves and if I didn't get it wrong, both would reach 'their' tile next to the copper on turn 36 and since Archduke moves ahead of Sullla, he could grab that city.

What is really worrying is that Archduke doesn't seem to be thinking about Sulla's position, plans, strengths or weaknesses at all. Sulla's just there, he is scary, can't win a war against him. Even a very simple analysis of "I have sunk these cogs into an extra warrior, which Sulla hasn't, which means that I am ahead of him on military but seriously far behind on economy" would give his gameplay so much more purpose than it appears to have at the moment.

This so much. After reading these threads, never mind the four-leafed clover, I'm already bored of the six-armed snowflake mapscript about which I've heard nothing but Sullla's brief mention early on in the organizing thread. I'd be delighted to see Civ6 PbeMs take off here, but until there's some way to edit a map, it's hard to imagine anything like that happening.

Maybe if enough people are willing to throw balance more or less to the winds, they could play on other mapscripts with barbs turned on or something? Or given the way map seeds work, maybe someone could create a mod that displays the whole map and all resources on turn 1 so a "mapmaker" could start a dozen or more games with the right settings, check over each map that gets rolled, and record the map seed that resulted in the fairest/best map so the players can use it in their actual unmodded (or "RB-Mod" with interface improvements) game? That sounds like an even more thankless task than mapmaking for a tough Civ4 crowd though, so I dunno....

The amount of luck the game would have would be unacceptable for a PBEM. Having an uphill battle is fine for a single-seating game because there's always next time but not for a PBEM format.

I don't know actually. I'd be up for a more casual PBEM where it's not balanced. I realize that would deviate from the competitive and high level PBEMs played on here normally, but it sounds like fun to me. My problem in general would be my abysmal PYFT-rating, which keeps me from joining any games here.

Im very much in favor of pitbosses over PBEM. If the rotation works out, Pbem is okay. But: Only 4ish players, in pitboss more interactions when there are 6-10 players.
Also with kids at home, Id ideally play turns evenings only...rarely time in mornings or right after work. So if Pbem turn comes in too late one night, it has to sit there 21 hours.

So I dont think Ill play pbems, civ6 needs a pitboss.

Archduke is now gonna make Sullla the happuest person in the world by settling one tile off river, allowing sulllas planned city after all.

Did Sulla just drop a district on a rainforest, forgoing ~40 food and ~40 production from harvesting it? Wow.

And yeah, the Archduke's settlement location... Or even worse, his warrior locations -- he has just no interest at all in scouting, he still probably doesn't know that he even was in a settling race!

Sullla thinks we were posting about the settler race while all we've been doing for 3 pages is casually wondering how much he's winning by lol.

It's not as if we have anything else to discuss, given the lack of updates. I wonder if it's because no-one is interested in the game as much as Sulla, the mapscript is boring or what. I mean, Yuri's should be on the verge of capturing Lisbon, shouldn't he?

I got a feeling the turns fly by right now because Archduke and Yuris have decided to just play along as quickly as possible due to the game being not so exciting to them.

No updates from 3 players make it almost impossible to follow except for Sullla's turns. And when you see the decisions Yuris and Archduke make, it like watching a Premier league champion playing some amateur club. Not really fun. Most of us root for the underdogs, I guess. Our only hope now is teh, and he hasn't been active in his posts too.
