Well that was a fun experiment. I was having trouble making connections until I realised that almost all of my words were sport-related and there weren't all that many grey or red words to hit. I was fully expecting Racket as the first wrong answer, likely somewhere in the first 3 words. This meant I could see where your deliberations were leading you and either provide a 0-clue on the second round to point you away from one or two likely answers, or, if everything went to plan, an unlimited to clue the remaining two words. Admittedly, my intended 7 included Jam (thinking that would be a term Americans would relate to sports) and not Horseshoe. The choice of Sports rather than Sport was intentional, too, with the hope of pushing towards compound concepts like a sports bar and live-streamed sports. It was handy you mentioned both of those with other links to sport anyway.  Anyway, good work blue team. And hard luck red team: nothing you could have done about that. P.S. sunrise: putting down more of your thoughts rather than just pointing on the first round would have been helpful (for my peace of mind, anyway). I knew you agreed with the first few, but had no idea if you were planning to push for some different choices later on.
You guys actually only got 1 out of the 3 I intended with my Monty clue, I was going for the holy grail reference with Robin, Bridge, and Knight, but didn't want to go Grail because you could have gone grail -> religion -> gods -> mercury. Stream being on the board really made the second clue difficult, I was trying to connect bridge with Himalayas and switch(back), but I couldn't think of any word that wouldn't also evoke stream. I thought I could get one more round if you guys didn't hit blue, since I couldn't see any 2 clues to link the last 2, but alas. I also should have given an unlimited.

Mm, I was wondering which three you were going for. It was amusing that almost all the suggested words were red. Monty, 5 might have put a lot of pressure on me, as it turns out.
Oh, to whoever it was who mentioned Monty the WWII general: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Montgomery. He defeated Rommel in North Africa, and also led the unsuccessful push to cross the Rhine at Arnhem (as depicted in the film A Bridge Too Far). 
Ha! So Bob was exactly right about Monterey Jack, and we got those two words by sheer dumb luck! Believe it or not, I actually considered this possibility and whether to suggest pointing to something like Robin as the fifth in case of a second-round 4-clue, but not only didn't it happen, the probability just seemed so low....
With Fence (and Parachute) off the board, Climb 3 would give Himalayas + Bridge and a better chance at Switch. I'd have probably missed Switchback in spite of my familiarity with the term, but might have guessed Robin as the third instead since planes and (to a lesser extent) birds are said to "climb" when they gain altitude. Bermuda on this board though, with only two clues to play with ... yeek. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
