The First Civ6 Lurker Thread

@rho21:

I think teh is an excellent builder, and he has expanded very well. But I don't get the impression he has played much MP, and that's what required for a killer instinct.

I think the best chance for the game going forward is for Yuris to manage to grab Stockholm (which will slow down Sullla's tech) and one of Archduke's cities, but I'm not sure that he has the units in the right spots and enough army to do so at this stage of the game.

It's sad to see teh's (and maybe Yuris) chances gone by a 4th player who is more a non player...

I don't know, I think it might be better for overall interest if this one ends decisively in the next 10-20 turns, leaving them wanting more.  Start up PBEM2 quickly, maybe alter the settings and/or map a little bit (I can't tell if Rome needs to be banned, or if metagame changes would suffice).  I guess I'm assuming that out of all the lurkers here, at least one person is interested in joining the next game smile.

I'm about to wrap up the semester, at which point I will definitely be interested. The lack of a map editor makes me a little wary, but I'm willing to roll the dice and endure something unbalanced for a chance at MP.

I am sure there would be enough interest for another MP game. I could only join in May smile

I would consider joining if there would be a public diplo thread (PMs and thread spamming banned) but there won't be.

It looks to me like teh would be in a good position to also declare war to take Arpinium, and then maybe try to go further from there. The city has only 10 combat strength, so it should be doable with Warriors and Archers. Of course, that will be harder if Archduke upgrades to Legions and the cities' base strength goes up. Instead, teh seemed to be thinking of attacking sullla's city Aquileia, and decided that he won't crack those walls. Would it be against the Lurkers' Code of Honor to ask teh if he thought about going after Arpinium?

Yes, now.  You can ask once he can't change his mind.

Basic spirit of the restriction is that lurkers shouldn't influence the game.  Especially not on purpose.

It would be against that spirit for sure.

It's also against that spirit to tell Sulla about the legions ability to repair pillaged tiles, but it has happened in his thread again. Does Sulla really need any more help?

As for teh attacking Archduke, keep in mind that his cities are not really productive for Sulla until he is removed from the game. Hence, it might actually be counterproductive to hasten Archeduke's demise. In my mind, both Yuris and teh should start to attack Sulla asap. If they wait too long, Sulla will be far too strong.

Under the lurker code written by Krill, lurkers who only read one thread are de facto team members. So they can post whatever they want. Everyone knew before the start of the game that Sullla always has a bunch of ded-lurkers so it's the other gamers fault for playing with him if they don't like it.

That lurker will post something here if he isn't a ded-lurker.

Huh. Archduke says his plans were three legions in three turns. I assume one would be built in the capital and two upgraded. The capital obviously is toast, but two legions would likely still put quite a crimp in Sullla's quick war plans.
