Indeed a nice move by Teh, also because Yuris's units should be flanked by Stockholm units now as noted by last picture in Yuris's thread.
However i think city state always raze captured cities since city state is supposed to have one city always, so Teh surely needs to capture Frankfurt by himself instead Stockholm.
Also from Sulla's thread Hong Kong is currently annoying bee buzzing around his newly grabbed land, so Sulla has to make a decision next time he gets envoy: Stockholm or Hong Kong.

Stockholm. Hong Kong will free up shortly.

I'd say Sullla's extra effort, skill and knowledge have given him the game. If anything Yuris might have sealed the deal.

Although this is our first civ 6 game, so perhaps there will be an unexpected twist.

Hmm... did Sullla make a mistake by targeting and destroying one of teh's archers instead of his warrior?

Yeah, the archers were a nuisance and a minor constant threat against Aquilae and his units. But the warrior was teh's only real unit that could threaten Aquilae (or Frankfurt, in Yuris's case). It was also teh's only warrior (or does teh have another somewhere?).

The loss of one archer out of six doesn't really hurt teh's capability to make war or threaten cities. The loss of the only warrior, on the other hand, would make teh's archers far more vulnerable and make his army less able to threaten cities.

From a Civ5 perspective, targeting a melee unit too early doesn't mean squat when most likely that unit is just going to fortify-heal on a rough terrain tile until the city has been softened up. Instead, targeting archers reduces the oncoming DPS against your city.

The relative value of targeting changes as the battle shifts. If each archer is dealing 10 damage, and the city heals 20hp/turn, 6 archers means you are taking 40hp/turn, and 5 archers means you're taking 30hp/turn.

I believe he meant killing the warrior would have prevented Teh from retaking the city since archers can't capture cities.

Note that as srgtb did, I wrote "targeting AND destroying".

Oh, in case you don't know, I believe in if you don't get first place you are a loser. I said even in SP the goal is to get 1st place not do as well as possible. This would be even stronger in MP due to the metagame issues oledavy outline and the fact your civ would get burned to the ground if it were actually played out.

It seems that battle of Frankfurt is going be an war of attrition, which only person who gains from this situation is Sulla.

I'm surprised nthis worked out so well for Yuris. He is now up one worker and could have even razed Frankfurt if he wanted to. Shows what I know about warfare in Civ VI.

You people need to play more AW then you would be aware what is going on.

In my mind, if you want to conquer and keep cities you need to bring 2-3 melee or horse units accompanied by 1 ram (to negate city walls) and then some range unit support.

teh should not have attacked the city again knowing he can't reach Yuri's units. Instead one has to attempt to take out those units before retaking the city. And of course, warriors won't cut it at all.
