I'm hoping teh can pull off a 'Give me back my legions' move on some of Sullla's stuff. Otherwise this game is just going to drag.

Would Sullla have been better off to use his legions more actively in the initial attack? Right now he seems to have limited himself to the same tactics that teh used against Yuris, and Yuris definitely came better off from those exchanges (even if Yuris didn't do any real gains in land).

Due to the way teh set things up on defensive terrain (quite nicely IMO) I don't think the legions had the movement to hit teh's crossbow, which is the strongest defending unit, so I like Sullla's move to disable it even at the cost of his own crossbow. My (uninformed) opinion is that ranged units are more valuable than melee (because they don't take damage when attacking) so I'm inclined to target them first.
How would he have used the legions more actively?
Sullla's plan is to sweep in from the south while teh is concentrating on the north. If he can do it quick enough to cut off retreat for the injured units I think it'll work well. Either way it looks like he's got overwhelming numbers on his side, so the real question is how much damage can teh do/avoid in losing the city.

I was using the great general movement bonus to hit some of the archer units directly with the legions. Yeah, they wouldn't probably be able to hit the crossbows, but some of the archers might have been possible.
Also, will the forces from around Aquilae be used for a flank attack or for cutting of a retreat. From Sullla's descriptions, it sounds more like a flank attack, and I'm not sure his western force has the mobility to cut of a retreat (the lone horseman is far from sufficient in and of itself, methinks).

I now know that yuris is mailing it in after not responding to a direct prod on purpose (I checked his profile).

At risk of misusing the terms from your strat/ops/tactics thread, teh's problem there wasn't the tactics he used, but his operational decisions - and he seems to have made the same mistake here, while Sullla made the correct call. Against Yuris, teh moved to retake the city rather than going after the Aztec units. Sullla has been attacking the city only when his units have nothing else useful to do, concentrating instead on eliminating teh's military. And I suspect his success has largely been enabled by teh incorrectly assuming that Frankfurt is the target of this attack.
The real target is teh's army. Frankfurt is kind of a junk city, but if Sullla can get rid of the standing army out here - outside the range of walled Mainz's supporting fire - there won't be anything to stop his forces from overrunning all of Germany. (Well, unless Yuris attacks and forces Sullla to fight on two fronts for a while - in which case destroying teh's standing army just makes defending a whole lot easier.)

Yeah, it seems that Sullla was mostly preparing for his real offensive on T98, and went all-in on T99.
Though back in the teh-Yuris war, the main problem for both combatants were that neither of them had any real army capable of sustained offensive action.

Also, Frankfurt may be a junk city, but it's important strategically.
It contains a source of horse, so until teh (or Yuris) gets an encampment going, they're blocked from building horse units. But more importantly, it controls the dynamic of the inner core.
In Yuri's hands, it allows expansion from his arm into the core.
In teh's hands, it blocks of Yuri, but also acts as a salient against Sullla, meaning that he need to defend at least Aquilae and Arpinum, and maybe Stockholm as well.
With Frankfurt in Sullla's hand, his backlines are extremely safe and defended on a very narrow front.

This has been a fantastically entertaining battle and I've loved Sulla's explanation of everything but at this point the game really seems to be over. Even if Yuri and Teh were launching a coordinated attack Sulla has them outmatched.
When do you think they're going to formally throw in the towel? Neither is updating their thread much and I can't imagine they have very many interesting choices left.

The enemy's gate is down, but unless it's a silly game or the enemy is a hive mind controlled by the gate, you kind of prefer to directly harm the enemy.
