Take a look at the screenshots in post 16 above, Zulan documented the steps to open notepad as an administrator. You have to run notepad with elevated privileges to save a file to the location where the hosts file exists (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc).

JR4, editing hosts requires root access; did you run notepad as admin? (I've changed /etc/hosts already for my part.)

Do I need to set up port forwarding on my box?

I take it someone already poked the slowpokes?

I have a separate question: if I start up the mod and connect, I get a pop-up saying that I need to restart the game with the mod (um? it's RtR 2.0.8.3 in both cases), and I can only actually connect the second time.  Anyone know what's causing this?  I wouldn't really mind, except it looks like it's spamming the game log.
