Civ 6 PBEM 2 Organizing Thread

Unfortunately, I did not play until this morning. I shut down my computer early with the expectation that I would play if I got an email but never did. Found out my email spam filter has been blocking some of them. Also, I won't be able to get the save to Singaboy before he leaves for work today because I work a little later on Thursdays.

For future references, my job does allow me some flexibility in work schedule and I tend work from home most Tuesdays and Fridays and work a little later most Mondays and Thursdays. This all depends on my meeting schedule and if I have a meeting on Tuesday, I tend to work form home on Wednesdays. The best chance for more than 1 turns in a day for me during the work week will probably be Tuesday and Fridays.

Alhambram, I was looking at that last night too and agree that the power hours you provide is probably the best block of time when we all might be awake. I will be available during those hours in case we can get a few turns in around then. Otherwise, it seems someone will be sleeping at some point during the rest of the day.

Tomorrow morning I can take the save early for sure as it's Saturday here. We shall see how fast we get it to turn around then.

My major activities moving to a new place are also over. My back hurts, my muscles are a little strained, but all is fine now smile Planning to play my Saturday morning turn on the balcony sipping a coffee (later in the day, it is simply too hot/humid in Singapore to enjoy this sort of stuff). We shall see how fast turns could move during the suggested time slot. However, I also need to think about moves ahead in the game as I don't want to rush through them too fast.

As for the dogpile, I am clearly THE target with my stats so terrible. The saves seem to sit with me the longest.

Singaboy, glad to here your move went well. You should get the save fairly early tomorrow as I am working from home.

Question for everybody, has anyone tried to save the file (named something else) before hitting the next button, then hit the next button and save to overwrite the "(PYDT) Play This One!" save and have it successfully load the "(PYDT) Play This One!" save? I haven't tried it but Singaboy comment about want to look things over made me think about it. Maybe one way to be able to look things over before you play again.

Actually, I found out that after passing the save on to the next person, you can simply reload your turn (the usual method to load your turn). Simply don't finish your turn then but you can analyze stuff you had no time while passing on the save.

I feel that this is fine (since the save has been passed on). However, it should NEVER be used to move your units different directions to scout around (you could theoretically send your unit over and over in different directions). This would be blatant abuse and I hope we all honor NOT to do this.

I usually overwrite the downloaded save. I guess I was under the assumption that it had to have the same name. 100% agree the the turn should never be simulated in-game and I am sure I can trust all of you to not do that. My thinking/asking about saving after moves were made so you couldn't replay your turn, only look at the board.

I also think you partial answered my question. If you are saving under a different name, then the client looks for just a new save and not a new save with the same name. Therefore, if you save before you hit the next turn button, it might download that one and kick out an error because it is technically not the next players turn yet.

I found that rather odd as well.

Even a simple game like Advanced Tactics saves how often you opened the save.

I don´t really care about it, after there are even easier ways to cheat if you are so inclined, so eh..

In our PYDT test game where we practiced passing on our turns, I ran in annoying problem that PYDT tend to upload another save instead correct one. My solution was to delete all saves at load screen of multiplayer, so I always have just one save on multiplayer screen now (of this PBEM game). I usually take screenshots of my game for if I need to analyze my game.

I agree that turns shouldn't be simulated and I fully trust everyone here.

I assume that I am able play my next turn when I am back from my job, leaving for job now.

I need to work on my turn time counter. I am so far behind everyone. Insomnia FTW.

Like I said before, I wouldn't worry too much about your turn timer. You are 13 hours ahead of me and so far we are on turn 9 the day we said we would start. I think you having a turn average under 7 hours is outstanding. I think most of us have had at least 2 turns in a day twice and I think we are doing awesome! I also think as we get into more, I probably will need more time to think about my moves and will need to play later in the day (towards my initial time slot), so your time should go down as I will be playing closer to when you get off work.
