Thanks, RFS-81! Still no luck with the DOX Box config ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) , but I can get a screen capture externally. Will have to see about manually cropping the image, but that can be done as needed.
If playing at impossible, psilons definitely sound good. I tend to struggle quite a bit at impossible unless playing one of the strongest races. (As I said earlier, not the most skilled MoO player.)

Okay, sounds like we have a consensus then! Ianus, if you want to start us off, you're certainly welcome to do so! (If not, and if no one else volunteerss, I'll see what I can do over the next couple of days.)
In terms of roster order, I figure we'll just take the first round in order of whoever takes the save first, and then use that rotation going forward. First turnset of the game is 20 turns, 15 turns each for the second and third, and 10 turns each thereafter.
Looking forward to this one a lot!

Sounds like a good plan to me, RefSteel. I am looking forward to learning a lot, and hopefully not dragging the team down too much.
Good thing I am playing a refresher game to get back in the proper mindset and get stupid mistakes out of the way. Klackons keep beating my poor lizards to the planets I was planning on expanding to. ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) I did get a big (85) poor and two bigger (100 and 110) ultra poors. Being the Sakkra, those three in the juicy part of the growth curve give me 35+ fresh pop every turn to seed new worlds and throw into invasions. Take that, annoying bugs! Waves of lizards will conquer your worlds!
Hmmm, psilons have already claimed the center of the map. ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) I do not foresee this ending well....

I love the way that here at RB all the slots in an SG for a a 20 (ish?) year old game can be filled in 48 hrs.
Damn. I would have been up for this - I've struggled to make the jump to impossible myself (possibly because I keep trying to do it on small maps in 20 minute bursts while travelling).
Oh well, always fun to lurk ![popcorn popcorn](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/popcorn.gif) .

Who says the slots are filled? You are welcome to join us! MORE than welcome! This is the biggest crowd we've had in a while and if we can get enough interest maybe we could start an Imperium game for the first time in a couple of years!

I also think we could easily run with one more person. That would be what, six? A bit large, but it should work. Not quite enough to split into two teams unless we get a couple more people, but it should be OK. A bit longer to cycle through the rotation, but that may be helpful for pacing to not have to play as often. (I do have a couple other SGs going with Civ and XCOM. ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) )
And I agree that it is great to see interest in older games. ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) MoO is still a fantastic game, so it is good to see people willing to deal with the interface and the issues of running it on a modern system.

If you can fit in one more turn player, I would _really_ like the chance to finally get comfy on impossible. Are there any techical issues? I'm playing whatever I bought from GoG a couple of years ago. Guess I can try loading up a posted save tomorrow and check.

shallow_thought, I am also playing with the version from GoG. So there should hopefully not be any significant technical issues. Do check out the unofficial patch from the Kyrub thread (I believe RefSteel linked it earlier, if not you can find it in this same sub-forum). It fixes a number of issues and adds some nice to have improvements.
I am a bit confused by the save files, which appear to have been changed by the patch? In the unpatched MoO I was used to seeing the SAVE0.GAM through SAVE6.GAM files, for the 6 slots plus the current continuing game. Now it seems like the numbers just keep incrementing? I was able to load Ianus' posted save earlier by renaming it to SAVE6.GAM since that is the usual slot used for SGs, but maybe that is not the best approach? I also noticed when I loaded it that I saw the comment text from my own previous slot 6 save, so apparently that is stored separately and not in the .GAM file itself.

Is there a standard set of rules for succession games? There are things which the interface allows, like sending your missile boats immediately back to an enemy system to chip away its missile bases, that are not considered fair play, I think? Also, the "let's you and him fight" diplo screen maneuvers? Or are we allowing anything at Impossible?

Yes, where the original game would overwrite save7.gam every few turns the 1.40 patch generates a new sequentially numbered save every turn (after turn seven or something? The numbers don't quite line up right). In order to load any save just make a copy of it and rename it to save6.gam or whatever and load as normal. It just requires a bit of tedious effort is all, but at least you can go back to any point in the game you want. And yes, the in game save description is separate from the file itself. However if you delete save6.gam and don't replace it before loading the game the save title will disappear too.
