This is a kind of loser's logic I cant understand. You lose now, you lose later or you occasionally win...

What have I done inappropriately?

I've been defending as best I can (except for an empbarrassing mistake where I missed that the culture flipped on a tile exposing my main stack). It's not easy defending with muskets against rifles when your opponent has 3 times your army. However, I feel like I have learned a lot and I am still playing my turns when they happen even though I am probably doomed.

I'm okay with playing on but I would prefer a higher tempo then so that we can finish this game this year. I'm also okay with this game being called as I have no chance of winning. Unless there is some sort of direct conflict between the leaders this will be a slow grind through the weaker players.

Chumchu, man I have no complaints on you. You are defending as well as you can. But there are ways you could do better, right?

You didnt see you were going to be attacked and thats for 2nd time in one game. Of course I would prefer to see your cities whipped to low pop as Nyles did, but I am not asking for a replacement based on this.

Pindicator doesnt leave his cities empty as well and is not giving up. May be anarchy (whatever is it) is the worst idea but I am not sure he intended to ease up being eliminated.

And again, I am not against replacing him if Mr. Cairo finds sub quick and it is ok with pindicator by himself. So its up to you, guys.

But the only way I can see that happening is replacing those players who have been consistently late with the turns. That means at least Pindicator, and probably Nicolae Carpathia? Unless those players can commit to a faster turn pace, although I get the feeling that Pindicator doesn't particularly want to continue playing in this game.

What kind of neighbors were you seeking for?

What kind of neighbors? What do you mean by that?

I've already jumped into the lurker thread. But there isn't anything recent, just mackoti saying my defending sucks. Which fine, that's probably right, because my only strength in this game has been the inclination to spend vast amounts of time in weighing options and calculating possible paths I can take. I don't just innately have a feel for this stuff like better players no matter how much I try to give myself axioms to follow. This game I haven't had the time nor the inclination to spend that kind of time, and I feel like I'm being judged against the past version of me that did.

What I don't get is how when you and gsorel (and Mr. Cairo by extension after) get bad defenders as neighbors in the early game when it matters most there's no issue at all. But now you go to roflstomp your neighbors who ate all at least a tech level behind and it's suddenly a huge issue when they don't defend in the manner you see fit. You want to criticize my defense as subpar? That's probably correct. Again, less time put in by me, vastly different results, shouldn't be a surprise to players who have seen me play before. And it's fine to constructively criticize - if I ever play MP again I'll need all the help I can get.

But don't threaten to shut down the game because you disagree with my strategy. You should have done that 9 months ago if that's the standard we're going by.

Right, well, since it seems most players are willing to keep going, I'm going to ask for a replacement turn-player for Pindicator in civ general in a few hours when I get home from work. Any opinions on what level of spoiled are acceptable (this question mainly for OT4E as it effects you the most)?
