Does Aura of Majesty still exist? I tried to start with it, but it doesn't appear in my spellbook once the game begins.

You can't start with Uncommons. You get guaranteed Uncommon spells instead. Which means you will have a 100% chance for the spell to either appear for research during the game (5-7 books), or on turn 1 (8-10 books).

I think I preferred the old system where you have to melee when adjacent to an enemy unit. It makes ranged units less powerful and makes sense because it is hard to make a ranged attack when someone is so close.
Also it fixes the problem of not being able to melee when you want to.
On another note, I'm currently playing a 9 book sorcery game and despite beating all the most difficult towers, nodes and lairs in the game I've yet to receive any spell books or retorts. When I play a game with spellbooks from multiple realms I find loads of both. It's as if you either get items or books/retorts. Could this be a bug or just bad luck?

There was no such old system. It has always been "melee if 2x higher attack strength.", even in 1.31 vanilla MoM.
Books, items etc are luck. They don't depend on what you have.

I just want to throw out a comment. Despite disagreeing with you on a few remaining topics, and strategic combat being a mess, I think the current CoM is amazing.
Thanks for listening to feedback and continuing to put so much work into this project!

You're welcome
You've probably noticed I was somewhat inactive in these past days, and I have two fairly simple reasons for that :
-I've been working on this nonstop for almost two years now, and I definitely need some break otherwise I risk losing interest from doing it too much. Of course I will still respond to bug reports and fix major problems if anything is found, but I won't commit dozens of hours into playing test games until I actually feel I want to play the game. (Last time I tried that, it amounted to a week, this time, maybe a bit longer?)
-And for the first time in these two years it looks like there isn't any major area left that needs improving (and can be done), so I actually don't have anything to do right now aside from the usual "play more for testing purpose", which points back to the previous, I played way too much and need a break :D
I really wish I could just play enough games to be able to tell if the current "experimental" features are good enough to be in the main release...but knowing how the game works that would mean playing another 100 hours lol
Meanwhile I'll think about what to do with Call Lightning, if anything, as that actually is the only thing on the list which is not "testing" or "this hero needs new optional sprites".
...and I bet as soon as Hadriex finishes his Colonization game, he starts another CoM and finds a ton of bugs and I'll be busy again.

Yup, for me its call lightning and sprite garrison value in a fortress. But I'm OK with just reporting that whenever I see it causing problems.
But I figured that might be why you're inactive, which is why I thought you deserved a shout out for all your hard work.
Hopefully my feedback has helped, and hasn't caused too many frustrated brain spasms!

Seconding Nelphine, finding CoM was the high point of my past couple years of video gaming (I wasn't around for the earlier versions, so all I've seen is the amazing part).
Speaking of heroes I'm just curious, why is it that they haven't gotten an overhaul such as creating a lot more alternate heroes? I've been a little surprised that from Insecticide to CoM the heroes remain fairly stable (aside from added skills in CoM). Is it a space issue again?

Yes, there is no way to add more heroes.

Hi Seravy,
I just recently discovered your awesome mod. I read that you plan to reduce a bit the workload, which is fair enough - I'm utterly surprised by the amount of work and quality reached by this game, I wonder if original microprose developers haven't ever told you something?
Would you mind preparing some *hit by bus* contingency? Open sourcing or escrowing... (Sorry if this is already done and I didn't see it, the forum is huge for a newcomer, and a 155 pages sticky thread is kind of a psychological block
