Yes, of course. Would be quite shame if we couldn't at least trade resources.

Think of the public diplomacy thread as the "public face" of your diplomatic dealings, and the in game deal making as where the rubber hits the road.

Not quite what I meant. I mean, do we have to negotiate deals in public or is it just an add-on to what we are doing in PBEM2. Sorry if this is trivial but I am fairly new to the diplomacy thing and want to make sure I understand everything. Maybe it is the name "board game diplomacy" that is throwing me off. To me, that means everything is out in the public.

Good questions here. I am for banning images too. As for open diplomacy, I think for DoF, alliances, NAP, they should be out in the open. Simple trades like resources etc can be done without the open diplomacy. Does that make sense?

How about putting in the open bug we discovered during PBEM2. Shall we put them forth for everyone here as well?

Having a known bug list wouldn't be a bad idea.

@Woden

What I have in mind when I say public diplomacy thread is rather simple. There is a public diplomacy thread where you can talk to other players. You can continue to do whatever you want through AI diplo in game, and announce as little or as much as you want, but the purpose is simply to be able to communicate to people in a more meaningful fashion should you desire.

I think it would be burdensome and unwise to mandate that players post in the public diplomacy thread whenever they do anything. It's simply a resource that you can use as much or as little as you want. It is not a replacement for in-game diplomacy, but rather an addendum.

They're already out in the open (DoF's and Alliances), you can see them in game. If someone wants to make an out of game NAP through the diplomacy thread, then obviously that would be visible.

I know alliances and DoF are visible. However, I find, sometimes, if I had a little more time to think about those while playing, that would be good. Currently, you open the save and see an offer and haven't got much time to decide. If it is announced in the open, you might have more time to consider the options.

If you play a boardgame at home in the interest of time we forbid closed negotiations off the table due time constraints.

Think of it as we would be sitting around a table playing CIV VI, everyone writing an AAR for our readers at home.

It should enable basic diplomacy like for instance "Help me, I am dogpiled." but not suck up endless amounts of time.

And to just be able to exchange a bit more to each other about the game. For me at least this amounts to a lot of the fun in a MP game.

Thanks all for the explanations! I think I have the bulk of it now. I had the basic idea down but wanted to make sure I didn't do anything frowned upon.

What is the deadline to decide which Civ to take? This coming weekend?

Ok, we can have a bug list or perceived bug list (this includes game mechanics, which are not explained well)

1. Hoplites get +10 strength regardless of a hoplite next to it.
2. Pillaging districts does NOT negate the bonus they provide (e.g. adjacency bonus, production, science etc). The district still functions as a district would except for the Great Person counter and the ability to build additional stuff on it (example: library, uni, workshop etc etc)
3. Great Generals get teleported to the nearest city when defeated

I am sure others have more to add

3. Sure that is a bug? GP seem unkillable in general to me.
