TheArchduke's third time's a charm as England

How about not being the underdog this time?

Have no fear, I will be.

Countless mistakes, daring wars (or rather defense against overwhelming odds), wrong analysis. All here for your pleasure. popcorn

Count me in as an interested reader, sadly not as a dedlurker as I will not be able to put in the necessary dedication due to PBEM3 and RL

Rather easy choice.

Gorgo

We just played Greece, not going to play them again, although they are a somewhat decent choice.

Egypt

An overpriced ancient area chariot, where you are better of building cheap slingers upgraded to archers later on. It should be boostable by Agoge, but still those are a lot of cogs.

Other bonuses are river-dependant and on a water map like Islands Plates highly situational. Much better on Pangea.

England

A naval special district, built in half the time, a water map.
An infantry unit upon settling or conquering (quite a snowball against the AI.

Not a question in my mind, we are going (or I, without a dedlurker) with England.)
Never built the sea dog before, sounds like a fun little unit.

Take care about the sea dog, I remember reading that its unit conversion ability was not working. I am not sure this had been fixed yet.

Over on CivFanatics someone posted in January they seem to confirm that it works, but not against barbarian vessels and it's dependent upon the relative strengths of the ships.  It could be that it's questionable because in single player only barbarians reliably build naval units. rolleye

Thanks for pointing this out.

I am really itching for this game to start I admit. Playing SP feels like stale bread to me right now.

My biggest fear is that I will feel like talking to myself without a dedlurker like Bacchus around.wink

I will try to provide encouragement or feedback, but that will be limited due to my available time. :D

I just had lunch, and the only bread in the house was stale. No worries: I chopped up a bit of tomato and bell pepper, covered the bread with that and a layer of mozarella cheese, baked it a few minutes, and it was delicious! Dunno if civ6 variants can take the place of the toppings and toasting though; the AI seems pretty awful in this game.

And obviously I'd much rather have fresh-baked bread!

If we're comparing Civ variants to cooking, then adding Mozzarella is cheating. lol
