For simplicity's sake, this and in-game diplo are entirely separate. 

You can do continue to do whatever you'd like through the in-game diplo screen. 

Here you may talk to other players directly in public view about whatever else you may wish to discuss. 

They intersect as much or as little as you'd like.

We've met in game. Would you care to trade information? I would like to know what type of city-state you have, where it is, and where your capital is. I will trade all the same information in return. To kick things off on the right foot:

My capital is 11 tiles east and 9 tiles northeast of the barb camp we can both see. 

I'll hold the info on my city-state until you state your intention regarding this deal.

Nice to meet you. Welcome to the land of Carnival, where it is always a celebration!

I haven't played yet so I don't know exactly where you are but since you see the barb camp I have an idea. I see no harm in sharing information. My city-state is Lisbon and once you tell me yours and I see where you are, I will let you know where it is for the same info.

My City-State is La Venta (Colossal Heads yo)

I don't have a screenshot in my thread showing it relative to the barb camp, but relative to my capital it is 7 west and 4 southwest, slightly across the halfway mark on your side of a straight line drawn between the barb camp and my capital of Ganymede. I will update this post to give directions to it relative to the barb camp when I get the save.

EDIT: nvm, I do have a screenshot. 5 east and 6 northeast of the barb camp.
