Challenge for Nelphine

I have to admit that the more I tweak my build, the more it starts resembling yours. Wolf riders just don't cut it for taking lairs and nodes, and barbarian cavalry can do almost as well on neutral cities early on. Berserkers do a lot more damage than wolf riders, and that damage is needed. With Tactician and Warlord, their survivability should also suffice, especially with Cloak of Fear on top.

So, then let's make this: how do we play on impossible without warlord? My cavalry wouldn't beat any of the things that are rough, my bezerkers wouldn't start out as Elite; I could imagine the late game without warlord, but I don't think I would ever get there. (Also, I just did another impossible huge game, and i started on an island big enough for 6 cities, but it had NO lairs at all on it, and only one node. By the time I started attacking anything at all, one of the AI had 15 cities and chimera all over the place. So, despite the numbers I put up in our game 3, impossible is still no walk over.)

I'm up for trying something different, but I'd prefer to have one more go at this. My build still isn't the same as yours, and I think my approach differs a bit as well.
