[SPOILERS] JR4 tries his luck in PB 37

Graphs and demos: The next two turns will be very good for our demos as we`re about to settle a couple of new cities in addition to the growth of our existing cities. Oh, and the ivory camp means that we`ll have a lot of happiness (at least in the cities that hasn`t been whipped a lot).

I notice we're getting a chop into Chubei next turn. What will we be building with it? Note we could whip away one of those lake tiles this turn to get a bunch of overflow into whatever it is. (Worker/Settler if Muqa is keeping the Corn for another turn or two? A series of Missionaries?)

I would also whip the Barracks next turn (T85) at Oghul Qaimish, but you may have been planning for that already.

I'm excited to see what happens in the upcoming turns!

I whipped away a lake in Chubei. The plan is to let it build a few missionaries to spread our faith around. Which city needs the happiness/culture right away? I assume Borte is getting the first one as it`s growing quickly and would appreciate an extra happiness. There is, however, an argument for letting it go all the way down to Oghul Qaimish to combat the Greek culture. 1 pop whipping the barracks in Oghul Qaimish on turn 85 sounds like a good plan. It`ll regrow in a few turns.

On long term plans - how about placing our 10th city right there on the island. It`s an excellent strategic outpost on a plains hill and has a lot of good tiles to work. If Joey were to build a city here our expansion on the western sea would be severely hampered. We can`t allow that to happen, as he easily could stuff the city with pro archers. Imo it`s more important to get out there than claiming the stone island as it`s too close to our main lands to be contested.

Let's see. Given the whip and chop, if we go straight into Missionaries at Chubei, we'll obviously one-turn the first one; if we work the shared Cow at Chubei starting next turn, we can also one-turn the second one. I would be inclined to get Buddhism into Oghul Qaimish ASAP, but that would mean not only sending the first missionary there, but roading the plains tile 1W of Borte's Cow to get the missionary down there a turn sooner. The road would have to be finished by T88 to speed up the missionary though. We'll also want to get missionaries to our new cities where possible though (paying an extra 10h each to build their monument in a more-established city and get them into place sooner).

Planting on that island plains hill isn't a bad idea. We'll want a city on the stone by the time Masonry completes, I think since building Moai as soon as we have access to stone is probably a good move, but that's not immediate anyway. For that matter, any ideas about where we should put Moai? We obviously have a number of pretty good options!

Quickly now: As the turn hasn`t rolled yet I won`t get to it until much later unfortunately. It`s going to be a very busy day for me. I agree with getting a missionary into Oghul Qaimish asap. It`s probably worth a couple of worker turns to speed it up.

If we can make it a back line somehow, the Moai could be placed in Kokejin. Another candidate could be that city on the plains hill on the western sea if we can get there first.

I hope it's a good kind of busy day - I've had a few of those myself lately!

If you get a chance while in-game, could you take a screenshot of dtay's lands with tile yields on? We should be able to see where Iron is located (at least at/near the capital where it's still mirrored) that way instead of just guessing....

I tend to prefer putting Moai in a city that has: 1) A decent ability to generte hammers already (to build Moai itself) and 2) A good number of water tiles that would be good even without Moai (since those are the first ones we'll be working with it). For that purpose ... actually, Nambui looks quite decent with a seafood and four lighthouse-ready lakes tiles. Oghul Qaimish could do it too, although that might be going overboard on doing everything cultural there (fish + 2 lakes, or 3 if we ever get rid of State of Zijin). Both of those are definitely border cities right now though. I guess the prophet points are also a consideration - maybe put it into a city that'll also get a temple and run a priest for our shrine - but that's kind of a secondary issue. And of course you're right that a city like Kokejin or Radnashiri-to-hopfully-be would get the most long-term benefit out of it at large sizes.

TURN 85

Ok, let`s start with the big news of the turn. We met two other civs! Couerva has a galley south of Nambui which fortunately has adequate defenses. A 4 move galley is a nasty surprise for his foes! I let our worker start a road down there as Cuerva probably has nothing to gain by attacking us. Note that he could take Joey`s worker instead if he so desires. I hope he stays out of our lands. Then we met Gavagai out on one of the western islands. As he`s quite far away I don`t really mind him getting that island but maybe we can contest the gold island.

We built our 8th city this turn and is ready to settle our 9th next turn. No enemy galleys in sight out on the eastern gold island fortunately. Also, it looks like dtay`s iron is right next to his copper.

Graphs and demos: we`re not the only ones with a rapidly increasing crop yield. I still expect us to catch up a bit before turn 90 but getting the lead by then looks pretty difficult.

Oh, and how do you feel about offering a map swap with Gavagai/Couerva?

I favor the map swap. Also, yikes, you weren't kidding about the busy day; you're keeping the kinds of hours I've been trying (and mostly failing) to stop keeping myself!

Other notes:

1) I'm willing to bet Coeurva has another four-move Galley out there! The one we can see only has half the XP that a GG provides.

2) I'm glad you're willing to concede the area where Gav's archer is standing: That's his mainland, not an island! (And his only Ivory. [EDIT: Unless one of his neighbors ... uh ... isn't using theirs.])

[EDIT: I was going to put a suspected overall map layout here, then realized I still have no clue about everyone's position. Is Gav's archer just exploring another player's ivory, potentially far from Gav's home? Maybe Coeurva's, and both of the Russian cities Coeurva appeared to raze were aggressive island plants? Or when Coeurva apparently razed one of Ventessel's cities early on, was that by boat? And does dtay neighbor CML after all? No idea right now.]

[EDIT AGAIN: Oh. I think I understand. Just had to realize which of my assumptions was least supported by the evidence. So it's probably something like...

Some of the specific player locations are still matters of guesswork though. One reason I'm assuming this is the actual setup is that it would mean there are only two players completely isolated from us, so that we would have no remote opportunity to compete with them for any land or islands at all - and by complete happenstance the two players from whom we're isolated would be Russia and China.]
