Caster of Magic Release thread : latest version 6.06!

Unfortunately the "Spellbooks" help entry doesn't show up on the wizard creation screen at all - even if it did, it already fills the whole screen so I can't add more information.

I'm trying 11C and 2 different wizards have come to settle on my small islands within the first 10 turns, not even in very good places. I'm still exploring so I am not sure but it'd seem strange that these are the only places available to them. I don't mind as it's a life game, but were it any other kind of strategy it'd basically force me to an early war. Could this be again the only human lands explored bug? Should I wait and play out to see their lands? Do you want the save games to use RVL?

... Or is this intended?

Probably the terrain where they started is worse. You can upload the save if you want.

Is it me or has the mid-late game performance got worse again? Playing exp11 on fair size and 100k cycles. Can tweak the conf more I bet.

I always play on max cycles, and I haven't noticed any issues.

Seravy, is there any simple way for us mere mortals to set the opponents pick? I'm thinking I'd like to do some testing to see how different realms/personalities actually change difficulty, per the discussion in game mechanics.

Uhhh...changing the personality is simple with he tweaker.
Changing the books and spells is also possible, but you'd know their spells and would need to roll what they get manually and set each spell yourself.
Also this would not come with correct starting relations.

We would need a new tool for that but at the moment I'll be busy with Sorcery for the next...week or so I guess.

Its definitely not high priority. In fact I don't think its something you need to build at all. Just figured there might be something already in existence.

Oh my god. I didn't realize your 'attack empty cities' change was so effective.

I just lost a fully developed dark elf city.. to a settler. (there was a stack of 9 warlocks heading to a nearby city, so I looked around - no other enemy troops anywhere nearby except a settler that had nowhere to settle. So I emptied all 4 cities in range to build a stack that could take out the warlocks.)

AND THE SETTLER FREAKING ATTACKED AND RAZED MY CITY.

I am quite unbelievably happy with this change, even if it was bad for me in this game. (It was a dark elf settler, no melee attack at all.)

Could it be possible to have the "are you sure you want to attack" checkbox whenever you're not at war with the target? Accidental movement causes unintended wars.
