Glad to see that you have some willing alpha testers, Ray! The project looks great! Sadly, I just can't motivate myself quite yet to test a version of MoO that isn't quite feature complete yet, but it looks like it's getting really close! I'm really looking forward to the final stages of development and the end product!

No problem at all. It gets closer with every release smile

Had watched your videos on youtube - quite impressive. I was ignoring your game because of the Java, but it seems like the most of others are doing much worse (Unity - ugh frown ) performance wise.
However, I can't enjoy 4x without tactical combat (where the majority of modern "MOO inspired" games failed terribly). Will wait to see how do you implement it (there are a lot of "pitfalls" there).

There is a picture of a "Huge Meklar ship" on your reddit. I'd consider it an April Fools joke, but it's December. What are tentacles about? Aren't Meklar robots? Trilarian - maybe (but still a bad taste - in my opinion).
Also - how is the tactical combat coming? This is the point where everybody broke so far (switching to auto or real time).

As for the Meklar ship with biomechanical tentacles writhing behind it, designs like that or the Seekers from XCOM: Enemy Within (to take another tentacled example) seem to me to be very much in keeping with the Meklar theme, and since coming up with semi-plausible stories to explain ludicrous-on-the-face-of-them game (or sci-fi universe) mechanics and imagery is one of my favorite things, I'd be happy to supply a laundry list of excusestotally legit explanations for somebody to build a giant spaceship with a writhing, pulsating mass of biomechanical tentacles sticking out the back.  You know, if anybody wants me to.

RayF seems to be using those reddit threads as his primary means of communication with fans; the latest seems to be here - it sounds like tactical combat will be in the next Alpha release, which will also apparently be open source, and is waiting on all the ship and race artwork to avoid releasing open-source code including placeholders from original MoO. That's what I hear him saying, at least!

(I haven't looked at Remnants much lately for various reasons, mostly related to having little free time for the game, and lacking a computer at home that can run the Java environment it needs.)
