Current Impossible Strategy

Is there a limit on how many unit enchantments can exist in a game? I SEEM to be having enchantments disappearing, and I'm not sure why (note, no sorcery books in the whole game, so it's not missing overland dispelling wave or anything else like that; and i end each turn with over 10000 mana, and i'm not getting into many battles, so it's not maintenance.)

Tlaloc has Nature's Wrath, Herb Mastery, Earth Gate, Behemoth, Colossus, Eternal Night, Pestilence and Animate Dead. He must have learned Behemoth from Merlin, without giving Merlin a very rare in return (unless he gave Earth Gate before Merlin researched it.) He has 5 cities and 1 arcanus node.

Merlin has Enlightenment, Consecration, Holy Arms, Crusade, Charm of Life, Supreme Light, Behemoth, Earth Gate and he has enough books for a third Nature very rare, but I don't think he has one yet, or Tlaloc would probably know it; but he's banished so much since very rares came in that I can't be sure. He must have learned Consecration from Sss'ra (without giving Sss'ra a very rare in return, unless he gave him Supreme Light before Sss'ra researched it), and he learned Holy Arms from me. He has 9 cities and 2 arcanus nodes.

Sss'ra has Consecration and Supreme Light; since I've never fought him, I don't know if he has any chaos combat very rares. He has enough books for 3 chaos very rares, and does not seem to have Great Drake, Hydra, Chaos Surge, Armageddon, Doomsday, Meteor Storm. Therefore he might have Disintegrate, Call Chaos, Warp Reality, or Call the Void (since he's peaceful and never been at war with anyone since he got any very rares). He might be behind on very rare research though? I wouldn't think so as he has 12 developed cities and 6(!) arcanus nodes and hasn't been at war for a while.

I have 56 cities, 12 Myrror nodes, and 8 arcanus nodes.

I cannot for the life of me find the last arcanus node. I've explored the whole map - I think it has to be in the mobs of troops on Tlaloc/Merlin's home continent, but for whatever reason the wizard isn't melding it.

Also, Merlin has had a node Warped since by Rjak (before he was defeated), over 3 years. Yes Merlin has been banished a lot of that time, but shouldn't disenchant area for warp node be high on the priority list for AI?


And, Sss'ra, with 12 high elf cities and no very rare summons.. is gaining on me in army strength. I'm sooooo confused. I have no idea how he's doing that. OH. He has 11 high elf cities... and 1 barbarian city! Maybe he's buffing hordes of bezerkers somewhere I can't see them.. (Admittedly, he's also got hundreds of pegasi. But.. it takes like 36 pegasi to match one of my bezerkers..)

Any thoughts on Merlin not disenchanting the warp node Seravy? Is it just lower priority than I expect?

Disenchant Area has cumulative priorities. A single node will not have all that much but many warped nodes or cursed cities will have a lot.

Nope, only one node. OK, I understand now. I think its bad, given how good a node is due to cheating bonuses. The node itself could have paid back the overland casting skill let alone the mana. But since he's losing anyway I guess it could be a 'lose or lose' choice.

So I tried a lunatic EXP13C game on huge which is new for me.  Barbarians, alchemy warlord tactician omniscient 5 life books 2 death books.  My idea was to take and keep enemy cities but not attack any capitals, and not worry much about diplomacy.  But by 1409 my berzerkers were halted in their advance and things look grim as I am knocked down to 8 cities.   The AIs have water elementals all game and those seem tougher than other comparable units.  They move 3 over water and the AI can make good use of their extreme mobility as well.  And possession is devastating to un-blessed berzerker stacks.  City garrisons use up too many berzerkers.  But the enemy can take a city garrisoned with 8 un-blessed berzerkers by 1409 anyway.  Seems spiking enemy capitals or perhaps more razing might be the better way to go.

The AI is ATTACKING 8 bezerkers?? What are they attacking with? I've literally never had a city with 5+ bezrrkers attacked. I don't doubt they can beat it if they attack, but they just don't attack in the first place...

That I wonder about as well. I hope it's not another bug in the AI attacks.

o_O AI is playing Alchemy with Barbarians as well, no wonder. 9 berserkers > 8 berserkers smile
