By the way, now that I am being defeated by Archduke, first of, congratulation to your navy.
The navy negates all the penalties that ever existed in civ 6. No hills to climb, no 2 tile movement. It's 5 tiles a turn madness with added flanking bonuses. And hey, since that wasn't enough, why not make frigates the ultimate unit that doesn't even bother about city walls. No need for battering rams in tow.
Just add a Venetian Arsenal for the fun of it to completely imbalance this stuff.
Good luck to you guys without the Great Admirals! You will need it.

Whilst I agree that this turn must have hurt, you are far from out. But conquering all of Norway may have painted a target on your back and overstretched your ressources.
Also I was way behind in this game on science and culture but despite that noone seemed to have bothered with harbours on a water map before long. Beats me why.
Yeah, GG are a bit better to negate what with terrain bonuses and rivers, but I guess one would need medieval walls or renaissance walls to counter them. Or better a bigger navy.

Can't speak for anyone else but I never really had any plan for winning. Just trying out Spain in mp (since no one serious uses Spain in sp past Prince level.) I'll be a better opponent next game.

@Archduke. Apologies, had I known you were about to invest envoys in it, I would have warned you Singaboy was about to take Toronto.
As an aside, I won't be on the offensive for some time. The first frigates are just coming off the slipways this next turn, and currently Singaboy is attempting a land invasion of Saturn with his GG-led army. I will be on the defensive for quite some time.
Congratulations on your recent successes at Kiel and Zintronheim!
@Woden. Nice teamwork defending Jerusalem. Regarding its future status, I have similar fears of a another power holding it, considering its proximity to the Belt (it's only a few tiles from Eros). Moreover, it just got a caravel and is now nearly 60 str. - not attackable without a significant army/navy. With this in mind, I would prefer we leave it independent between us for the time being, and negotiate regarding its future status.
I offered you a deal this turn. If you do not like the terms, please re-offer it. It is very important to me for t122.
@CFCJesterfool. If it helps, your army (I think I saw 1 horseman, 1 chariot, 1 battering ram, 1 catapult, 1 galley), was in no way large enough to take Jerusalem, even if Woden and I hadn't intervened.

@oledavy,
as I have not attacked any of Archduke's cities, I propose a peace deal between two of us. This won't interfere with the NAP and DP you have with Archduke as I am not the aggressor here.
It would give me the opportunity to regroup and defend my core rather than having skirmishes with you. If you stay at war with me, Archduke will take the productive core from me while you might get some of the non-developed Norwegian cities (in fact they got nothing really, a total of 1 district and hardly any land improved).
I would also withdraw my forces from your island next to Toronto.
Your call.

I think naval units will be better at taking cities but I am not sure how they will fair at keeping them. And if you think Frigates are strong, wait until battleships which do full damage to walls, from 3 tiles away.
@Singaboy,
I am sure you feel like you have no options and a little disheartened now, I know the feel but at least you can see where the attacks are coming from unlike if they were Cossacks. You still probably have twice the production of any of us and still the strongest army and you know how to us them. All is not lost. You turned it around in PBEM2 and sure you will turn it around here. I sure you will lose some land and another will pull ahead and put the target on their back but I am sure you are far from out. I just wanted to let you know that I will honor our NAP until it ends (T130), so there is that.
@oledavy,
Don't be too hard on CFCJesterfool, until recently Jerusalem did not have any units in the city or even on their island. He did bring at least 3 horseman and a galley that I sent into the drink and still has a catapult stuck on Jerusalem's island.

@ Woden, you are underestimating the power of two Great Admirals. They add +10 strength to the navy, effectively giving them an attack of 65 + flanking bonuses (say +4) . That's 70 versus a city defense of around 50 to 55 (once the walls are down, + the city damaged it gets worse). A difference of 20 gives an average of 66 damage in one shot. Once promoted, their strength against cities is 72 + flanking.
No city next to water is safe. And once the English take cities overseas, they get free melee units to boot. England is completely OP on this sort of map thanks to cheap docks, they can build and the resulting GA points.
Heck, Norway didn't finish a single harbor in comparison.
I will NOT turn around this game as my production isn't that stellar, this is an Island map and production generally stinks.

@oleday,
I forgot on my previous post, I will let Jerusalem live to keep the peace between us if you agree to the same but I will consider it a declaration of war if you are using this as a opportunity to take it for yourself.

Thanks, looking forward to your freeing of Toronto and Norway (under benevolent japanese oversight of course.)
@ Woden
I doubt I can hit Singaboy´s inland cities, so feel free to get an army.
