The Backstabbers' Table - PBEM 4 Diplomacy Thread

@Archduke,

with a heavy heart, I will agree to let go of all the new possessions and cede them to you come T130 (You should make the peace offer come T130 with those conditions).

I am not quite certain what other implications are there, as you have a multitude of DP with oledavy and Woden. The game might shift significantly, but in my own interest of self preservation, would you be open to an alliance or a DP as part of this deal?

@Archduke

At this point, after fighting Singaboy for the last 40 turns, I have a vested interest in some of the Norwegian cities, I would like to have something to show for the war. Indeed, over the last few turns I have finally established provisional naval superiority in the region and am currently moving forces to take Toronto and Teeplantage. However, there is no way I can take them before you make peace with Singaboy and he cedes them to you. I am not happy at the prospect of having these cities change hands out from under me like this.

I will not deny you your conquests. But Teeplantage is a sticking point for me, especially considering it strategic location on the coastline. Indeed, half of my rationale for war with Singaboy was to deny a hostile power potential ports on my local sea. I will cede any claim or interest in Toronto, the bay area to the east of Saturn is yours to claim. I'm willing to negotiate on precise terms, but I would like Teeplantage. It's only a size 4 city, and it would mean a lot to me.

@Singaboy. If you are ceding Norway and making peace with the British, we no longer have any quibble. I am willing to make white peace pending resolution of the status of Teeplantage.

Well, oledavy. Unlike Archduke you did not really achieve much in those 40 turns of war besides losing a few archers and ships (I lost some too). It's up to you and Archduke to resolve the issue about Teeplantage.

Looking at the next Great Scientist Charles Darwin and the fact that Teeplantage is next to a Natural Wonder, I would not give up that city so easily, Archduke.

I am fine with white peace, oledavy. However, I would also be prepared to defend Teeplantage until T130 for you, Archduke (maybe for some token of appreciation if it were successful).

@ Singaboy thanks for keeping the norwegian possessions intact, I have stopped advancing or bombarding.

@ Oledavy The GS and the Natural Wonder combined with the Venetian Arsenal is a bit too much, apologies.

@Archduke, good that we have an agreement. Are you interested in something more than just peace? I know you got some agreements running until T130/T140 or T150, but after that it's all a new ballgame.

Says the player who just doubled his city count?

At any rate, I won't annoy you with meaningless platitudes or fake shock, we both know what we have to do from here on out.

For what its worth, I've sincerely enjoyed our partnership while it's lasted. Best of luck making your push to win, if anyone has earned it over the course of PBEM1, PBEM2, and PBEM4 for their improvement as a player, it's you.

@Woden, I would like to extend the offer of a defensive pact between our two civs until t158 inclusive. We don't have any competing interests at present, and I see no reason not to shore each other up.

If you are interested, I would also like to sign a DoF with you and sign an alliance. I believe we both have Civil Service.

I will agree under one condition, neither of us go after Jerusalem and you don't use this to take Lisbon. I will stay away from La Venta. So, basically, no using this to screw the other regarding city-states. If you can agree to that, we have a deal.

Of course, I have zero motivation to screw you over right now - I would effectively be signing my own death sentence. I shall not attempt to take Libson, and you shall leave La Venta in peace.

For what its worth, I plan on taking La Venta in the next ~15 turns or so if you were planning on sinking any additional envoys into it.

I'm actually open to discussing the status of Jerusalem. Frankly, with recent events, the strategic implications of you holding the city are far less of a concern for me by comparison. If it shores up our partnership, I'm willing to cede my strategic interest in the city. I would simply ask that if you do wish to take it, you don't do so in a way that leaves you vulnerable to invasion.

However, I do still have a vested economic interest in the city, and you taking it would represent an economic hit to me. I don't care about the suzerain bonus, I'm not going for a religious win this game. However, the city is worth 6 faith per turn and 4 gold per turn (Courtesy of Trade Confederation) to me. Moreover, I send the majority of my gold generating trade routes to the city, and sending them to you instead would represent a 1 FPT hit to their productivity.

With this in mind, I would ask for some economic compensation as a starting point for any  agreement where you take the city - likely in the form of GPT or a lump sum of gold. I am in the process of mobilizing a large fleet that my economy cannot easily support at present, so a deal to this effect could end up being advantageous for both of us.

@oledavy,
Even better. We can discuss compensation when I get closer to taking the city. Might be a little bit. Need to rearrange units due to current changes in global balance. I sure we can come to some sort of agreement.
