At what point was I trying to be subtle?
@Singaboy. I offered you gold this turn, its not a ton, but its what I can spare, any more cuts into my sub upgrade fund. However, if you urgently do need more, please let me know.
Remember I cannot DoW until t145/t146, so plan your movements accordingly.

@TheArchduke,
An update on Japan's ship numbers:
In total: 15 Frigates, 6 Caravels (numbers off last time).
Nine Frigates look to be moving along the south shore of Norway. The remaining are by Spain, on their north and east coasts. He is probably getting close to Ironclads, as most of the Caravels are near his cities. Two of his Frigates are just south of his main island. Also, looks like he is slowing his invasion of Spain down as his ships are not in position to take more cities.

@ Woden Thanks, I do hope you are building military this is getting hot soon.
@ Jesterfool Thanks for the support. Oledavy is making a mad dash to win this game by destroying everyone else, I hope we can keep you in the game unlike Norway. This also means trying to not throw away your troops which raise the defense of your city, stay inland and keep up the good fight.

Only Japan razed one of my cities without clear provocation. I just don't know how Japan DOESN'T win now that they have ironclads AND the freaking Venetian Arsenal (hard to believe no one has not tried to raze the city yet.) Good luck....you're going to need it.

@oledavy, thanks for the gold, much appreciated. My defense rating went up by 15.
I am confident that together, we can smash Archduke's force and bring the fight to his homeland. He has some forces in the NE and I assume he will try and attack my NE coastal cities.
Let him taste his own bitter medicine.

I see that. We actually have quite a task before us as far as trying to defeat his holding force.
The terrain favors the British, we have to attack through a narrow channel into a mass of guns. I have two options for you, I'll watch in game to see what you want to do.
Option #1:
Frontal assault on the channel.
I might be able to smash through with one of my promoted ironclads, and push out a salient, but honestly, I think this attack will come down to who can grind more efficiently and effectively. If this is the case, we're going to need to eat some losses early until Archduke becomes unable to replace his casualties.
We need to be attacking on top of one another with our fleets, with your fleet punching through and taking advantage of any kill we land in his line and vice versa. This way we can make up for the fire superiority he enjoys.
Additionally, if you have crossbows you can spare, you can set up coastal batteries near the former city of Midgard or on our side of the channel, and try to drive him away that way. This is probably the best way to create a hole in his formation.
Option #2:
Holding Pattern
I will defend the channel, protect your western holdings from his fleet and attack if I see an opening. You will in turn be free to take your navy east to defend Zitronheim/Kiel.
I will be watching closely in game, and remaining flexible depending on what Archduke does in approaching this battle.
Best of luck and good hunting!

I mean, England still has 4 more cities than me (more if you consider 2 of mine are under occupation), and about 30 population more than me.
If I wasn't deploying my fleet, there would be nothing stopping you from running over Singaboy and winning the game.

@oledavy,
I think I know my options and you will see it in-game. Do you know exactly when you can attack? T145 or T146. The order of our turns is crucial here as well (Arch-Singa-Dave).

I don't have it recorded in my thread, so I can't say with 100% certainty. However, I do know I accepted a DoF from Archduke on t115. I believe I offered an alliance on t115, and he accepted on t116. With that in mind, I don't know if t116 counts as the first turn of the alliance or not though. Although, I think it doesn't.
Actually, this game aside, can we establish once and for all what the first turn of an alliance/DoF is? Is it the turn it is signed or the next one?
I feel like it's the next one, in which case, Archduke can attack me on t147.

Keep telling yourself that whilst you run over me.
