@oledavy, you better hit him really hard.

Archduke has declared war and taken my northern city yet again. He will most likely take Kiel too. It is essential that you deny him access to my western cities, otherwise it will look pretty grim. I hope you can declare war on T146, T147 might be a little late.

I see frigates creeping towards me.

Seems like a good time to quote this.

@Singaboy, I offered you a deal this turn, sugar for cotton in lieu of my soon to end deal importing sugar from theArchduke. I just bring it up here because the interface was acting weird....so let me know if you got it or not.

Hold fast! Only a couple more turns to go. Keep the rest of your fleet safe while waiting for me to engage. Turns out, my fears of having to frontally assault the strait were unfounded. Two more turns of peace means I have time to move almost my entire fleet north of the channel.

Things are looking good. I have two questions.

1. Do I have sources of coal on my Island? (If you don't want to tell me, that's fine)
2. I have noticed Woden's ships east and west of my land. Do you reckon I should strike him if an opportunity comes up? He has clearly stated that he would come to Archduke's air do raid my Island, hence a first opportunistic strike might help me.

For the life of me I cannot find any coal on your island. The nearest coal I see is 6 tiles west of Salz Am Meer

Woden has 3 frigates and 1 caravel in your vicinity, 1 caravel elsewhere, and 2 frigates he just upgraded towards the northern end of his home island.  The two frigates close to you are off your east coast, and I believe you can see the caravel to your west.

This last turn was notable in that Woden upgraded a bunch of units and appears to be assembling an invasion force near Grand Rio.

Composition:

1 Great General
3 Knights
2 Muskets
2 Crossbows

He's out of money for additional upgrades at present, but is in Press Gangs and Professional Army. There are two warriors, a galley, and two more archers he can potentially upgrade, but other units will have to be produced from scratch.

If he begins moving them on this next turn, I suspect the lead elements will make landfall near Teutoburg in 3-5 turns.

No battering ram accompanies these forces.

Then again, he is also building settlers and the Colosseum, so idk.

At any rate, I will keep you appraised of these forces movements. I suggest you allocate your fleet to face Archduke's with me, and use your land elements to oppose a landing. If we're able to punch through around The Show Must Go On and Zitronheim, we can defend Kiel with naval elements and potentially intercept his army en route.

Pretty sure I can't declare until t147, but there is a very slight chance it will be this turn t146. Keep an eye out, and deploy accordingly.

Interesting development. If we can sink Woden's army or defeat at Teutoburg, the door to his core should be wide open.

Fair heads up on that front, I can't do anything about Woden directly until t160

No fear, Oledavy I will put up a fight. No worries, I got ironclads, too.

Subs as well, probably about the time yours arrive.

I may be able to hold onto some turns longer, but Woden you really need to hurry, I am fighting an uphill battle here against the magic double ship building wonder. Frigates as far as I can see.

EDIT:

This is a nailbiter for sure. A lot more up and downs in this PBEM then ever before.

It is an all out war now, Woden's caravel is history. Please update me on Woden's troop movements so I can have a nice welcoming party waiting for him.

@TheArchduke,
My Army has sailed and should make landfall in a 2 or 3 turns. I just want to remind you that Sea Dogs can capture subs (granted, it has only a small chance).

Ship update on oledavy:
There are the 7 Frigates right by you, plus
2 more Frigates and 4 Ironclads near the narrows,
4 Frigates, 1 Ironclad, and 2 Privateers around Spain,
2 Privateers, 3 Frigates, and an Ironclad up by Titan and It's a Kind of Magic, and
2 Privateers by his main land.

29 ships in total. Yah, I think the next Island Maps will have to ban the VA or if a mod can be created to limit it just the city it is built. Empire wide is just to much.

Germany also has at least a Frigate and 2 Caravels that I can see, south of the narrows.

Woden has embarked, and is moving everything towards your east coast. He seems to be targetting Kiel, although realistically he can put ashore anywhere. Kiel would enable him to use his naval support though.

His lead knight is 7 hexes east of your coastal bananas (east of a mountain).

Good job nailing his caravel, now please come north with all due haste, it's going to be quite a bloodbath and every ship counts.

He sank three frigates on his turn and damaged two. I sank three in return.
