[SPOILERS] Cornflakes vs. TheArchduke 2nd Round

I remember something about the start generator being bugged and having other civs and city states start very close to the player. Has that been been fixed yet or is that what we're seeing here?

If it's still broken, I do think there was a work around if necessary.

Happened to me in SP, yes.

Not here though, 9 tiles is close but not crazy close.

I declare war this turn and attack the scout with my scout. I will also corner and destroy the warrior thereby denying the settler position.

I do hope that he has space to expand east, else this will be nonstop war from now on.

I made first contact with 2 mil CS first and 1 commercial CS.

I seem to be in the middle of the map.

I fear we need to play a bigger map size for a duel.

I kill his promoted warrior at the risk of lossing a warrior to his slinger. An acceptable risk given that I have 2 start envoys in military CS.

After a short break we continue.

Settler is enroute to Pink Dot. 2 Warriors and 1 Scout as a screen. A worker will follow and we will start walls as soon as we are able and some slingers.

2 tiles are bought to get stone for an eureka, I want to beeline for city walls for pink dot.

We sortie out of new Cologne to hit the slinger.

On a whim I offered peace to Cornflakes, he accepted. Suits me I got my pink dot and will entrench my position further.

Cornflakes and me start a beautiful dance around each other.

It seems he wants to position himself for a first strike inside my borders.

Afaik he will get bumped out of borders in a dow even when I do not have early empire.

But alas I am not sure if I am right. crazyeye

What I am sure about is that we should probably play small and continents for a duel which is not an ancient and classical era wargame.

And you could always do a later era start as well to skip to the later stuff. smile

I was thinkin' the same thing, BRick. In PBEM4 Dave repeatedly expressed his desire to see airplanes in a game.

I don't see why the community shouldn't try a medieval or Renaissance start sometime to see the later parts of the tech tree.
