I'll run a few dozen "self playing" games where only the AI players get turns to see if the Myrran wizard performs as they should or are "out of control" all the time. I'll post the graphs for those games here (each game takes 1-2 hours to execute so this will take a while)
Game 1.
Red is the Myrran wizard, with Sorcery+Chaos.
Purple and Yellow are both Life+Nature, purple has Astral Gate, Yellow has Stream of life. Purple started with lizardmen, Yellow with Gnolls, the latter likely broke towers early? They are allied (same book realms).
Myrran AI in 1412 wasn't stronger than Arcanus AI at all, merely equal, and they play Draconians.
The eliminated wizard was Sorcery+Death with Gnolls.
...more tomorrow.
(if anyone is interested in helping, let me know and I'll put up the "self-playing" exe for download.)

Second test - same file I played yesterday.
The Myrran wizard actually eliminated the wizard closest to my starting location. Surprisingly they haven't settled the second (small) Myrran continent, I suspect either they are dropping too many settlers to Arcanus through Astral/Planar or something.

I'd be interested in that exe. Is it completely independent or does it need human supervision to keep running?

It stops on every 100th turn, aside from that independent.

Redownload casterrex.zip and in it there is a tools.zip, now it contains wizauto.exe.
To use it, create any new game normally, quit (so it puts the game into the continue save) and run that exe. Then you only need to press next turn once every 100 turns. It's recommended to turn off random events, enemy movement display etc

Game 3
Red is the Myrran AI, yellow is Arcanus. Both have Stream of Life and Astral Gate and are allies.
The two dead wizards were copies of the two alive - so this game had 2 wizards with Life+Sorcery and two with Life+Chaos.

Game 4
Yellow is the Myrran AI. While this looks similar to game 2 there is a fundamental difference -the AI got ahead of others much later. This is the kind of graph I'd find acceptable for this difficulty level.
The difference? This one wasn't playing Life books - No Stream of Life. Also, not beastmen this time.
I'm going to redo game 2 but after taking Stream of Life out of the Myrran wizard's book and check the difference.

Thanks, will dl that tool and put it to work tomorrow, see what happens. Wouldn't surprise me if Life+Myrran is the culprit here. My Myrran runaway was Expansionist as well, don't know if that could have a big effect?

Don't think Expansionist can affect it that much. It has no effect on settler production only raises ship buildings if I remember well, not sure if there was anything else.

Game 2 without Stream of Life in the Myrran wizard's book :
It's not all that different (albeit they did find it eventually, based on how it's missing from most of their cities, it wasn't found early.) so maybe SoL isn't the source of the problem.
Maybe it's the beastmen - generating power and producing units that have a high military strength, while also having good growth rates result in higher graphs?
They also had a great starting location - among the first 3 cities they had adamant, mithril, gold, silver and crysx - one of each. Plus their capital was pop 24 on river, and they had an easy and a harder nearby neutral, both dark elves. Also this continent was huge, covering about 75% of the landmass on Myrror - I actually wonder if this was supposed to be two or three continents that got attached together. It seems to exceed the limit in size.
