New Civ4 Pitboss (38?)

Guessing we will get our leader/civ choices around the same time?
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

I cant imagine making 25 starting locations without having entire map almost done unless everytthing is mirrored.

Lets just wait.

Thanks, cornflakes!

Quick request for thorough strategic resource vetting, including (and especially) for late game resources that may tend to get overlooked. The last mega-game (PB18) I played had, I think, something like three coal tiles on the entire map. Coal, uranium, oil, etc.

Thanks hatsoff

I for one welcome our new map-making overlords. (Thanks!)

Hey guys I'm super new here, I used to play Civ 4 LAN matches with my friends back in the day and wanted to come back and play again. With the whole gamespy being down and all this seems to pretty much be the only way to play that I could find. I already set everything up that I needed to, I have the hosts and the mod and all that, I tested to make sure it was working correctly by joining the Pitboss 37 server just to make sure I could get in okay. Basically I'm wondering if it's already too late to join this Pitboss or if I have to wait for the next one. I've been playing games with AI the past week or so but it's not the same, I want to play with real people again. (Fair warning, I'm sure you've already assumed this but I'm confirming that yes I am a total noob at this so my first game I'll definitely suck lol)

Welcome, mate. I'm pretty sure there are some standing requests for teammates, no better way to get into it.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Or just stay unspoiled and someone will drop out in the first fifty turns. Then you'll have your own civ and the eternal gratitude of the other players.

How likely and often is it that someone drops out that early? Is it almost a guarantee? Also how often do these Pitboss games happen? I want to get some rough ideas so I don't get my hopes up to play some time soon only to later find out that another game won't be for like a year or something. Also is there any threads where new players like me can find information on how everything works? I don't want to have to keep asking a million questions but I've never done anything like this before and this all seems so new to me.

hapened in every single pitbos till now sooner or later but in 50-70 turns fer sure you'll have a civ, not a very good one but domething to play with,.If no one drops i will gave you mine after 70 turns.

Everybody should be signing up for the game expecting to be able to play it to the end. But unforseen circumstances can occur and with 25 players it's pretty likely someone will drop out, but it's no guarantee. IIRC we had 2 dropouts in the first 100t of PB18(a 33 player game).

These large pitboss games don't have very often and I'd be a bit surprised if we got another one of this size going. Smaller games of 5-12 players used to happen very frequently though, every couple of months. Lately there's been a bit of drop in activity and this game is possibly stealing potential players. You can start a thread in the general discussion forum at any time(even now!), stating the type of game you want to play and see who else is interested, that's pretty much how these games start.

Regarding how everything works, there is a pitboss etiquette thread which might be useful: http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showt...p?tid=7311.
