Anyone up for an EitB SG?

As I said I won't play until tomorrow, mainly because I want to be certain everybody has had a chance to give their tuppence ha'penny.

I think S->SW would be better, we would gain visibility over a few more tiles. Or give up on settling the decent site N of the Remnants on turn 2, and do SW->SW->SE->SW, gambling on a better site for turn 3.

Edit: We could also change our minds after the 3rd move and put the settler on the grass hill.

I'm interested in seeing why the game thinks that western blue dot is so special. Could get on that hill and then double back to the Remnants spot if it turns out to be a dud. A potential waste of a turn but it's an option I guess.

Also I apologize for not putting my opinion on civ choice, I was fine with whatever but I probably should have vocalized that at some point.

Is the Remnants tile on flatland? If so I'd advocate for moving 4 tiles, SW-SW-SE-SW onto the hill 1SW of Remnants. There are a lot more unrevealed tiles there which have at least a chance for a resource (as opposed to the tiles we can see which definitely have no resources).

If worst comes to worst, we still have a lot of riverside grassland in the spot 1SW of Remnants which would make for an adequate city post-Agrarianism.

If Averax doesn't already start with it, remember to switch civics to Nationalism on the turn we're moving (I always forget).

Nationalism is actually not very good for the early game. You rarely have a city with 10+ hammers production (although this game is potentially an exception), but the +10% production does reduce all overflow by 10%, usually meaning the loss of one hammer from every batch of overflow.

Hmm, isn't Pacifism worse with its wastage of countless Warrior hammers? Or are we in Religion? (You can see how often I play. :P )

I usually forget to switch while moving the settler as well. smoke We can switch later of course as needed, but since we will be moving the settler for a turn or two we might as well take advantage of the chance.

Agreed. Remnants alone will make up a lost turn or two, especially if we revolt during one of those turns.

Do we have a thread name yet? May I suggest "And They All Came Tumbling Down".
