The benefit of wizard's pact? Relation points, and the wizard not being able to be hostile albeit that part is not very useful from a lawful one. But the relation points are, eventually you can accumulate enough to get an alliance and then you can move next to their cities again as well as make the declare wars and whatever else benefits. More importantly higher relation points mean easier to avoid war.
