Alhambram's 1001 nights (turns) stories as Persia.

Another turn! Turn 124:

Purchased tile meant for encampment at Ali Baba and chopped it to complete trader and start encampment.

Next turn Aladdin completes armory and I shall be able to upgrade my 2 remaining immortals into musketman. And oh Hong Kong also fell under influence of TheArchduke this turn, their request: eureka for gunpowder, aha next turn already!

My guts tell me to evacuate immortal now, I still have another one nearby Jinni, he shall be upgraded in musketman to give my cities bit more defense. Well, shame on me for founding Maruf.

Turn 125:

My guts proved to be correct since TheArchduke attacked Maruf this turn, my immortal can't go away on time. To prevent more war weariness to pile up and becoming worse, I made a little cheese move:

Deleting it cost me one of two immortals, next turn enough gold to upgrade remaining immortal at Jinni with gunpowder finished this turn for increased city defenses.

Meanwhile TheArchduke reached Monarchy government, resigned DoF with Emperor K, previous turn there wasn't DoF between them if I recall by checking diplomatic screen.
I send Emperor K another peace treaty, he plays after TheArchduke and should see Maruf fall in TheArchduke's hands. So maybe it does change his mind. But I think that Emperor K rather want see my cities wiped off out of the map.

Aladdin did finish armory and I checked what to produce next and noticed a builder in queue with 2 turns left, oh yeah probably from period that I wanted use Ilkum to fullest, now it shall be completed with 2 extra charges.

My empire at turn 125, mostly builders. I am simply delaying the execution for now.

Turn 126-128:

TheArchduke took Maruf and I send most of units to Ali Baba and Jinni, cities relative closest Maruf.

And my knight did ride forth and back to scout and notices TheArchduke's knight coming towards Jinni.

That rainforest is advantageous for attacker to attack Jinni from west. Meanwhile I did spread my religion to all of my cities, so all of them got DotF (inspiration for reformed church).
Also upgraded immortal in musketman, boosting my city defenses. Next turn castles completed and time for chopping medieval walls with Limes with next policy swap. Too bad that I am not in Monarchy, otherwise 150% bonus from chopping walls. Merchant Republic is sort of natural government for Persia since it involves trade routes.

Sending peace treaty to Emperor K resulted in counter offer peace for Ahmed. Well, I am just too stubborn to accept it, if Emperor K really want Ahmed/Rose back, why don't he try to take it then?
It is going to be bit too repetitive: I am in position where my only choice is to defend, Emperor K keeping in war with me resulting in war weariness for us both while TheArchduke finishes me off, which is nice teamwork of team Emperor K and TheArchduke. This is partly my fault, capturing Rose drove Emperor K firmly in arms of TheArchduke. Emperor K got DoF with TheArchduke over and over again, why not make a aggressive push for religion and spread it to his and TheArchduke's lands and then Emperor K wins if TheArchduke eliminates me. Now only thing what Emperor K is doing, is helping TheArchduke win without thinking of his own possible chances. TheArchduke is simply doing what he thinks what is best way to win this PBEM, I am basically waiting for him to take Aladdin.

Turn 129-131:

Finished castles at turn 129 and civil service at turn 131, made this policy swap, probably last one or do I still live when next one comes around?

Upgraded my last archer in crossbowman, with that all of my units got upgraded, so professional army away and bastions in. Veterancy out and Limes in, serfdom out and Meritocracy in.

I kept watching TheArchduke's movement and at turn 130 I already feared that I did scout bit too far with knight who could return to niter tile at best:

I wouldn't be surprised to see that knight of mine gone next turn. And then next turn it was indeed gone:

Message indicated that my knight was killed by crossbowman, then his knight pillaged niter tile. I move my units behind Jinni, but I doubt that it helps. lol That knight of TheArchduke got 8 movement points. crazyeye

And ah yes, TheArchduke nabbed another Great General, which is his 5th. oledavy, can you present TheArchduke another Montezuma award like in PBEM 2? lol

My empire at last legs:

Note that TheArchduke despite much better science and culture is merely one tech and one civic ahead of me, it is empire score that make a big difference and not to mention Great People.

Harvested crab, used gold to purchase forest tile near Jinni (meant for campus with 4Icon_Science adjacency bonus (why didn't I do that earlier! smoke)), chopped it with Limes to bring medieval walls at 2 turns left to complete.

Well, is Jinni still in my possession next turn or not?

Turn 132:

I guess that it is going be game over for Jinni or TheArchduke shall strike my exposed army near Ali Baba instead, well I shall see what TheArchduke is doing when he plays his turn.
At least I was right about one thing: most advantageous way to attack Jinni is coming through rainforest at west.

And oh, I still managed to get another Great Person, TheArchduke failed to steal this one before my nose: Great Merchant Zhang Qian! dance
This also results in inspiration for Mercantilism.

Turn 133:

Finished medieval walls in Jinni, two knights outside borders killed as expected. With 8 movement points for knights and 6 movement points for corssbowman, it is almost impossible for me to get the much needed first strike.

Well, let's see how long Weedyistan can hold out against 5 GG army! smoke

Turn 124:

Just waiting for TheArchduke to finish me off.

Any reinforcement that I dare to send from east get simply slaughtered by TheArchduke, as that did happen with 2 knights previous turn.

Turn 135 and 136:

Turn 135 nothing special happened, TheArchduke's army seem to regroup themselves. Then turn 136:

Finally a GG for me! dancing Also it triggers inspiration for enlightenment since it is my 3rd Great Person.
And GG is renaissance one, only unit compatible is musketman guarding in Jinni, so I transport GG over there.

Emperor K caught wind of my suffering and tries to get a shot at Ahmed, but my city garrison and crossbowman is enough to deal with him for now:

Meanwhile TheArchduke sunk one of my galley with crossbowman and pillaged trade route, but he hasn't made a real advance at Jinni and Ali Baba yet, almost seem that he is waiting for something.

I shall build walls and musketman from now (only in cities with encampment due having but one niter resource near Sinbad after TheArchduke pillaged another one nearby Jinni). Purchased tiles, one nearby Jinni to enlarge DotF range, one nearby Ahmed to get better view on Emperor K's possible incoming army.

Turn 137:

Finished divine right and swapped to monarchy government for faster walls and extra housing in cities with walls.

I don't think that you shall see this everyday: 5 enemy GG staring down my only GG in Jinni.   hammer

Turn 138:

TheArchduke finally decided to attack!

I respond with my units, result: one killed Macedonian knight.

Jinni shall stand for 1 or 2 more turns I think.
