For pregame purposes, you can roll a map using Seven's mirrorland mapscript. It allows you to select X,Y dimensions. Go for the closest possible match there to what has been specified in this thread (I don't have it off hand but Ref, I think, posted) and you'll be pretty good. I've set up with exact dimension matches before but may have used Joey's tool. I forget now how to do that though.
Joey, if you're willing, could you punch together a worldbuilder file using your tool using the appropriate map dimensions? I seem to recall editing the worldbuilder file in notepad before but don't know the exact requirements to do that anymore.
I wish I could be more helpful, Cairo.
Oh yeah, I can do that. I'll just make one with a blank BFC. IIRC, Mardoc said the dimensions were 136x82, so I'll whip something up based on that.

That was quite helpful, since I only really cared about tech costs right now, so for that I only needed the map size, which is huge according to the first post. Not to say a real proper sim file wont be useful in the future.

I believe he was guesstimating. (Or guesstimembering? Something...) Anyway he was in the right ballpark, but the actual size is 140x88.

Ack, well I just made the sim file for 136x82 so you guys will just have to change the real map to be those dimensions.

I found that simply opening a worldbuilder save file in Notepad was pretty self-explanatory. Unlike an ordinary save file, which is a mess of binary, it's just a list of text key-value pairs, with reasonably clear names. I was able to adjust size and leader easily. Size values were "grid height" and "grid width". You can then reload the saved file and edit away in WB.

I don't recall precisely the problem that I had. I tried a notepad edit recently but then encountered some kind of problem when I attempted to load the modified file. Maybe I tried to open the file as a scenario rather than going into worldbuilder and then opening the modified file.
I'm not super curious about tech fixes by my nature though so I'll just wait for Joey's handout. And Joey, first: THANK YOU. Second, I agree. Let's just have the mapmakers redo their map to fit your sim's dimensions.

Perfect! I was looking for an excuse to push off releasing the map for another 2 months
In all seriousness, we're getting close. Possibly late-weekend-ish if the stars align ... I'd say >95% chance by the following weekend ... but you know how those 95% battles work, you're bound to loose it when you desperately need to win it
