After a fight against ruins full of werewolves I get a message that I found nothing inside. Is it a bug? I have 4 heroes total, if it matters.

Ruin is a keyword. If i was produced by rampaging monsters destroying a city, and they looted 0 gold, then it will indeed produce 0 gold.
The other possibility is you found something you cannot get, for example a very rare spell when you don't have at least 4 books in any realm. This sounds less likely.
