New Civ4 Pitboss (38?)

It should be enough to double-click the WBSave after extracting it.

If not, try moving the WBSave into the PublicMaps subfolder of your Beyond the Sword directory; it should show up as an option under "Play Scenario" afterwards. "Load Game" only loads save games; that's something different from WB (= WorldBuilder) saves.

Other than that: do you have the RtR mod installed? If so, is it version 2.0.8.4?

EDIT: Want to point this out: I did almost no work on the sandboxes, except to verify that they're yours and are set up as they should. Thanks are all due to the mapmakers and GermanJoey's MapCad tool.

The following should work:
1) Extract the .zip to get a file with the extension .CivBeyondSwordWBSave
2) Copy and paste the file the WorldBuilder saves vile [go to My Games folder (usually inside of My Documents) > beyond the sword > Saves > WorldBuilder]
3) Inside of Civ 4, rather than trying to load it as a save, go to Single Player > Custom Scenario ... then scroll all the way to the bottom past the pre-loaded scenarios and you should see the sim file name there.
4) Continue through the prompts to set up the game. There will be one AI civ in the lower left corner on a 1-tile island to keep you from winning automatically on T0

Once you are in the game you can save it as a normal single player game, and then load it next time as a single player game.

The WBSave with the final map is now posted in the map thread. I guess BRick will have to set up the actual game? Or is there something else we need to do here?

Excellent, big thanks to all involved in mapmaking process! (especially Ref, Mardoc and Cornflakes if I have understood correctly)

I'd trust Xenu not to peek, too.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Lets rock!

The pitboss server isn't accessible/online right now. I sent a message to Caledorn to let him know but it's after midnight for him now so I hope there isn't a response until a more reasonable time. I'll check this again tomorrow. Whenever the server is available again I can set up the game.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Cornflakes should get top billing. I built the starts and did enough work on the overall map to probably take credit for anything you see that you hate; Krill and Mardoc provided extremely helpful veteran advice; Erwin helped a lot with balance checking, and several other people contributed really helpful comments as well - but the reason the map exists at all, and the reason for most of what's good about it, is the amazing work that Cornflakes put in.

Likewise, of course - and it sounds like he's willing per his post above, so hopefully the game will be up later this weekend! (Cornflakes has PM'ed the save to him.)

General things to be aware of about the map so you don't have to dig through this thread to infer what directions we were following: It's technically a toroid, but we tried to make it as "natural" as we could given other constraints. We also tried to take some measures to reduce global warming, from taiga down to mangroves, but we didn't go all out spamming them - there are a lot, but they're not everywhere - and anyway they don't completely stop global warming; they can only slow it down.

Civ4's rendition of some of these landforms isn't quite what I'd wish, so here are some images of what they look like in nature, spoiled only for size:

Okay, yes, I admit it, I mostly just wanted an excuse to post those pictures.

Caledorn pushed down the lever on the side of the server and a pleasant faint burning aroma can be detected. As soon as Xenu gets back from the shops he'll figure out where I was going with this allusion and host the game. Probably on the wrong port. In a few hours.

Unless Brick can get to it first. Race!

I don't remember anyone asking this and it's probably too late already, but we're all starting with Scouts, right?
