Archduke and Emperor K team thread

Nice, it is now your time to shine. I am currently focused on getting districts down, and completed. I put all of the resources I could towards the wonder, and it won't really pay off for a little while still. I am still getting builders out.

There is just so much land I have the amenities and food to push my city's vertically that I see no reason not two. All of my current money will be saved for last minute sword upgrades in case Woden feels froggish.

Once I get a couple of more builders out I want to get two settlers out so I can slowly fill the remaining tundra. I will have a couple of trade routes available by that time to help out my food poor sites. I also still have many chops to do but would like to save some for the limes chops, as well as builders are getting expensive so I am heading towards defensive tactics to make use of 5 charge builders.

I do not really want to wait until some one declares war on us. Remember now is the time for you to become the giant this game while I am for Cossacks.

After my settler push I am going to get temples down, and around that time the great artist will be ours (most likely) and my culture should shoot through the roof. Let me know if there is anything else you think I should do.

So, my analysis is that in all likelyhood we will not win this.

But we are going to show our mettle, be tenacious and give it our best. First things first, for you a long overdue analysis and for the lurker some information.

An overview of the western half of the german empire.

And the eastern half.

The idea here is that I ignore any adjacency boni from the city centres but locking up Commercial Hubs and Industrial Hubs all together.

This means that without any other districts nearby and counting the ressources, every double build speed Hansa in the western and eastern half has +5Icon_Production.

With no river, the commercial hubs in the west only bring in +1Icon_Gold but that is what the City States are for. With 3 envoys in each, alltogether those districts will rake in +4Icon_Gold in the west +4Icon_Gold and one +3Icon_Gold.

Gold means military power in the later ages, as even with decent production card and chops you can never really catch up with someone who has amassed cheap units and upgrades them enmasse lateron. Gold = Military power. You can do Faith = Military power by faith buys, but I prefer gold myself.

Also I am planning a lot of infrastructure builds, I will go into more detail why, lateron.

Königsberg will be doing Hansa in 3 turns and then chop jungle out another settler for the east. I will want another 2 settlers sooner rather then later. 4 alltogether for city site 7 in the East and 2 isthmus cities and one filler city up north. Then it might do a commercial hub project or just getting started on a market, granary, monument and whatnot.
As soon as Defensive Tactics hit, I will do some sweet, sweet wall chops with +100%.

Bütow:

Builder (3t), Hansa (7t), and then wall chops into infrastructure and archer chop into infrastructure.

Osterode:

Commercial Hub (1t), Galley (6t), overflow/chop into Hansa and infrastructure stuff.

I know this means another galley in the sea down there, but the galley chops are too powerful and with city site 7 they can escape into the northern sea to enlarge my planned navy up there (current plan 7-8 galleys at the least).

Memel:

Builder (2t), Hansa (12t) with a wall stoneharvest before that and then infrastructure and commercial hub(24t)

Alschwangen:

Builder (2t), Galley chop in 2t into Hansa, then Commercial hub via wall chop.

Königsberg:

Backtrack to Galley (6t), chop that into builder, chop another galley into Hansa and commercial.

Basically this neverending bonanza will result in all 6 cities having commercial and hansas up and running. I will then add encampment in Alschwangen, Harbor in Königsberg, Encampment in the east and everyone else Campus, Campus, Campus.

This is all possible because of this:

Cornflakes and Japper are team former run. With this score and with the DoFs in place with us and our DoF belief, both Sulla/Singaboy and Woden/Chevalier will strike them hard and very soon. Our only hope is that Woden and Chevalier get the bigger slice and stalemate with Sullla/Singaboy over the scraps.

If your scout would have travelled west we would know more, but I am confident that there will be war again and with this score and a GG for Woden/Chevalier, they stand a snowball in hell chance to survive this.

That is why we will do infrastructure, infrastructure and basically play simcity.

Furthermore on my end.

I will do a play for Mausoleum of Halicarnassos in Königsberg and the Venetian Arsenal in site 7 in the east.

We will win this in the long run and by dominating the seas. Those isthmus straits are deathtraps for landbased assaults. Add to that:

Yeah, that are 3 encampments speed bumps for land armies. My analysis is that this game will be won by dominanting the seas and single conquests and razes. We should setup accordingly.

I will chop out 2 more archers and a warrior for the overflow and the west front but imo we should dig in. 2 encampments and wall chop are priorities but I am confident that you should settler spam the hell out of the tundra down there and attempt to aqueduct and district up like there is no tomorrow. We will get about 30 turns of peace whilst the others will start fighting over the carcass of team Japper/Cornflakes so we need to take maximum advantage of that.

I expect wall chop/overflow planning in every single city into settlers in the next turns. whip

Also just to be on the safe side. I suggest going for crossbows ASAP to discourage attacks and impale them on our DotF boosted bolts. We will not be able to compete in GGs and we do not need to. We can not compete in GAdmirals thanks to England, so we need to build an insanely competitive economy.

So saieth TheArchduke woken up from his slumber.

That money should go into traders on my end and traders on your end.

I am at +50 gold and will soon hit +80 gold, we will be swimming in gold if we can protect our CS, especially Bandar Brunei worries me.

Yes. A great prophet and this quest will not clear before we do not have a 5th religion. I am tempted to get a Holy Site just for that..

So gold into traders on both ends. Forget those swords upgrades. Woden will go for the low hanging fruit, not the russian/german behemonth with DotF. Those encampments scream "leave us alone".

And of course they landed the Collosseum.

We would never have gotten it.

Excellent, so from what I understand it is time for me to expand as well.

Ok I am several turns from Defensive tactics (i think 6) and I have theology at 1 turn. So I was intending to get builders out, as many as possible at 5 charges then I can build settlers out of two or three cities. I can get 3 more cities as of right now, I can put a 4th one on the western coast under the cs there (i forget the name). So that is four more cities. After that I will have to build commerce / harbor districts to get food to those cities.

Gold for traders sounds good.

Yes I am heading towards crossbows. I have several spots that will benefit greatly from lumber mills.

Also gold CS give us 4Icon_Gold instead of 2Icon_Gold so that will only help us. I will be hooking up several more luxuries to give to you as well.

Temples will be my next focus though, for faith to work I need to get as much as I can so temples after settlers.

I will most likely have to limes chop into as many districts as possible, and chop using settler card for the settlers.

Other than that excellent overview. I really will try to scout out the Kongo lands, if there is even a chance we can take a piece of the pie I think we should.

Turn 76

Well my scouting efforts in the north have been halted..

Going to double back around to see if I can find a clearing east. If not sailing techs are in order.

As far as city development, Ill start in whalewars

Almost size 4 and a builder is heading to the city for some attention. Lavra will be the next district placed, so with some timely chops and good management both districts should complete in a timely manner.

Pancake

Lavra is complete and with so many jungles to chop, and excellent food tiles I went with a campus for the second district. The third will be an encampment but with excellent adjacency and almost no other science districts planned in the near future it seemed like a good choice. Encampment next even though I have to buy a third ring tile for it. I will wait until defensive tactics is almost done so I only spend one turn in the discount civic.

Holy

This is the last builder to finish out of the city and is heading south to get some farms down for swampbram, and improve a bit around shellfish. The settler push will come after defensive tactices / theology, and after I get 4 more settlers out, I will finish much needed districts.

Swamp

City is also working on a builder, with infrastructure planned until this city helps with the settler push.

Shellfish

This city needs to place a commerce district at size 4, I will be in need of the trade routes. Either that or a harbor district, while ideal will require another tier 3 tile purchase. I will see how much money I have in 7 turns or so as it would be ideal to get the harbor for adjacency for the city planned in the south.

As far as new cities are concerned I will be placing down four more. One of the castlebog will be a great city, while the other 3 will be food starved. There first districts will need to be harbor or commerce as well as granaries.

That is about it, development and infrastructure at the moment.

Commercial district over Harbour imo.

We won´t be able to compete over Gadmirals and we need to use our 2 citystates to the fullest extent possible. To ensure that you should pour all available envoys into Muscat and me into Bandar Brunei. I doubt any other CS will hang around for long.

Agree with all other builds, especially that campus, you need some science to pick up my eurekas. After my commercial hubs, hansa burst, granaries will follow, aqueducts and the mass campi.
Reply

First Hansa finished. 5 more will follow over the next 7-8 turns. Galley chops are under preparation, finally builders are going out and look at this sweet production:

28 for another settler of mine. Shame that I have to chop that jungle into a galley, no forest nearby.

Settler seems just in time up north. I either build a canal city to allow my 2 galleys out or push for a bit more territory and fresh water. Undecided here, aqueducts are expensive.

Excellent news, you are starting to explode and should start to pull ahead.

I sent you some wine.

Also Woden renewed our friendship request and I accepted. Pretty sure we were not wanting to start a war with the Nubian / English combo.

I have a missionary out that will convert your northern city after he converts Shellfish. He will then have one charge left for one of your new cities.

Where to settle.

In place for a canal?

Or should I settle two NE to screw their team possible isthmus city over?

In place needs aqueduct as well.

Buying first trader, we can afford it and I want overflow/chop districts not traders.
