Homeworld deserves a second mention as a beautifully cinematic space opera cum RTS which ate up a lot of my time.

I don't think anyone said Battle for Wesnoth yet either. It's hex based tactical combat with a fantasy flavour. And free. And great.

I still rememeber the mothership launch scene after all this time - certainly one of my top 10 gaming moments of all time.  thumbsup
I actually remember seeing it mentioned in several articles when the Homeworld Remastered Collection came out.
That being said, IIRC the remastered Homeworld collection came out in 2015 and received quite favourable reviews, so this is certainly a game that can be played today without any problems.
