Stopping Darwin helps Woden/CMF's attack. They won't even have to face Sullla's attack because they will be too afraid. 2v1 is a big advantage.

How badly will they react to loss of great lighthouse?
Now that CMF/Woden have confirmation about the attack they will throw everything at attacking singaboy/sulla when the DoF runs out. They didn't know about that so that's why they wasted faith enhancing their religion. (April 15th, 2018, 20:42)MJW (ya that one) Wrote: How badly will they react to loss of great lighthouse? I thought it was Emperor that enhanced his religion, not Anglo-Nubia? Germany/Russia has known a war would be coming for a long time now. If it wasn't a 2 on 1 vs Romano-China, it was going to be a different 2 on 1. It seems like Russia just failed to develop as anticipated - whether that was because Nubia blocked them off, or they settled too many cities, or whatever. But this (or possibly even earlier) is the timing window for the Cossacks to go make a difference, and they're nowhere to be seen. If they were close in tech they could possibly have used that faith to create some, but it sounds like they're just too far off and too short of cash. If Rome can get Battleships in the water before CMF can attack, how are they going to be beaten even in a 2 on 1? When I checked last turn, his gold balance was mostly gone. Emperor K has a bit of cash, but not a whole lot. (April 15th, 2018, 19:01)Sullla Wrote: No significant score changes to mention right now. TheArchduke has slowly started to build some more military, his power rising from 771 to 891 over the last two turns. Russia also transferred all of its money over to Germany, which means that TheArchduke has 1500 gold in his pocket at the moment. Russia is still a non-entity with no power and for the moment no gold. So was Emperor K actually able to transfer the gold or...? I am not sure on the exact amount but it was just under 600. (April 16th, 2018, 22:31)Woden Wrote: Nubia-Turn 126 This is why Archduke is worried about Woden going into builder mode. I guess Woden might be thinking CMF will protect his coastal cities (coming through the northern passage), so it's OK to wait for discounts and things, but when you can see Germany about to get blasted, wouldn't you want at least a little bit of a navy in case Sullla breaks through? It seems odd to me to be waiting for a discount on an island plant when your partner is harvesting crab in preparation for the endgame. Admittedly all involved are far better players than I am, so I could be just bike shedding here. It's not clear to me that Archduke has actually noticed there's a problem - he might have missed it if only skim-reading his own thread. This is a clear case of an advantageous bug; particularly in light of the Mikeforall debacle, although it's a big deal in any case as ~570 gold extra for upgrades could easily be game changing. I imagine Archduke may be understandably a bit testy about the subject given all the back-and-forth allegations so far, and as a newbie lurker I'm not sure about the best non-aggressive way to flag it up, but seems to me that it needs resolution in the next few turns? Once war breaks out and Archduke starts upgrading legitimate units with illegitimate gold (and players have taken strategic actions based on that) it's going to get messy to resolve...
How about this: if Archduke doesn't respond to Emperor K's post, lurkers bring it to Archduke's attention somehow? No need to make a big deal of it if he simply missed reading it.
Edit: all seems well. Maybe he never accepted the first one? On with the show!!!
With 7-move boats does cmf have time to clog up archduke's coast and slow sullla down at the start of the war? Assuming he's not going to need to upgrade his caravels (what do they upgrade to anyway?) he should be able to limit the number of frigates that can get in range, right?

However, I think CMF has only one or two ships which could get to the German front in time. The problem the whole time for CMF has been the lack of a canal, and iirc the majority of his ships are in the northern waters. Still, it's better than nothing. Caravels upgrade to ironclads, which I assume are useful? Ironclads usually precede battleships, so they have a few turns of naval dominance. |
