[TECH] Civ 6 PBEM 11 (Mid-late May Start)

Thanks Emperor K!

Are we picking civs with the normal method of randomly picking out of groups? It sounds like we settled on non-DLC civs, so that means ban Scythia and either England or Sumeria and then split the rest into groups of 3? (There are 20, right?)

My preference is to have a little more control over my destiny with a pick method such as PBEM 9 used ... each player privately listing their top 6 picks in order, PM'ing to map maker. Any ties in 1st pick are broken in reverse turn order, with the loser of the tiebreak getting 2nd pick, and so on.

I agree with banning Scythia and Sumeria. Not sure about England though, it has not won a game yet. I'd be fine with England remaining in the mix.

I think only Scythia is an actual bannable offense, but I do not mind banning Sumeria, I think they are rather bad, I won´t miss them.

We have ourselves a sub forum! Thanks to the generous moderator thumbsup

I'm fine keeping Sumeria available.

Pindicator, Oledavy, Rowain, any input on the map?

Ichabod won with England (PBEM 3). If we do a continental map then they are strong

I have my doubts about that. But then I'm in favor to ban alot more civs (Rome, Russia etc etc) so we can see several of the weaker civs.

Map: Don't care much about the script. I like inland sea but no problem to use a continental map.

I like the PBEM 9 pick-method.

So, Scythia and Sumeria banned. DLC and expansion civs alright?

5 civs with 1st to 5th choice to the mapmaker?

Base game only, definitely not the expansion. rho21 does not have any of the DLC civs so just sticking with the base.

Need to pick 1st to 6th choice since there are 6 players. (unlikely, but possible that the 1st person in turn order could lose tie-break 5 times).

Yup, base + Aztecs.

PBEM10 was limited to low-quality civs and has been fun. As I'm playing in that one I'd prefer to have most civs allowed for this game though I wouldn't be averse to a more limited list if that's what people want.

Our pick method is pretty much equivalent to just "pick a civ in reverse turn order" so we could do it that way if people prefer that to having to come up with a preference order.

I agree with banning Scythia whatever. Sumeria should be banned unless we're all on separate landmasses. England should possibly be banned if there's going to be lots of naval combat, their complete lock on great admirals is a bit annoying. The Venetian Arsenal should definitely be banned unless it's a heavily land-focused map.

One key detail is that the picks are blind, so the person picking first can't be counter-picked against. (Although is that a thing in civ 6?) So I'd suggest everyone make their lists in their own thread. Yes, the last in turn order is guaranteed their top choice, and next player only needs to list 2 choices, and so on, but it's simpler to just keep the system that we're familiar with.

Agree with the bans. I think we've seen England enough that I'm willing to cut them from this game regardless of if they're going to be imbalanced or not.

Guess that means I better make a thread and make a choice, since I'm last.

Turn sequence has been established, but the 1st player is yet to be randomized, as far as I know.
