Thanks, waiting for the first turn. I will then share some though and strategies.

Quick summary.

Push religion and lavras.

Get DotF and Jesuit Education. Spam Campus and Theatre Districts, turtle up, get cossacks via upgrades and faith, kill continent, profit.

If the other continent is consolidated by Brazil or Germany, turtle up and aim for space.

EDIT: If I do not get DotF, cry.

Inspiration for a theme:

Siberian explorers
Russian Scifi books
Famous Soviet Leaders

other stuff.

Anyone has a brilliant idea. Not sure if I want to do a fantasy novel names again. Althought the names sound good that way.

Decent not thrilling. Marble not on fresh water. I guess SIP.

You could do famous Russian authors? The start looks fine. +1 culture from pastures might be a thing.
Global lurker smile ; played in Civ VI PBEM 4, 5, 15; DL suboptimal Civ VI PBEM 17

Really trying to see if any other thing then SIP makes sense. The tobacco would be nice, but a 3 turns delay? The marble has no fresh water.

Current gameplan, researching Astrology, getting a scout or a slinger (leaning towards slinger) and go with an early settler. Then put down 2 lavaras get AH, try to land God of the Open Sky and profit.

So, if I see nothing too interesting, we will settle in place. Playing Russia means no worries about what you get in the 1st or 2nd ring too much.

But upon moving the warrior, we catch a glimpse of Yosemite Valley (upon checking the NW list, which is vanilla.)

I draw up a plan to move west and compare east and west. Maybe it is an even decision, but I am turn.

- I dislike moving.
- The tiles and the choppable tiles are stronger east.
- The west provides a decent HS site, the east does not.
- The west provides me with an easy +1 faith tile thanks to the dyes.
- The west barely has enough 4 yield tiles that I can see, the east is better there.

All this would be moot without being Russia. I would need to buy tiles to make the western spot work.

Funny enough no settles from my 2 former players so far.

Also I might reconsider my capital if I notice something better on the horizon when I move my warrior 1W.
Else the turn 2 settle is the superior choice, as crossing the river means a turn 4 settle.

For .... sake.

The mapmaker must have been active. The best tiles in range of Yosemite are friggin desert?

And a CS is so close I would have autoscouted him with my capital?

Ah come on...

Sigh.

Settle.

Theme is russian capital folk songs. I am gonna cry in a corner for not SIP.
