So, if I see nothing too interesting, we will settle in place. Playing Russia means no worries about what you get in the 1st or 2nd ring too much.
But upon moving the warrior, we catch a glimpse of Yosemite Valley (upon checking the NW list, which is vanilla.)
I draw up a plan to move west and compare east and west. Maybe it is an even decision, but I am turn.
- I dislike moving.
- The tiles and the choppable tiles are stronger east.
- The west provides a decent HS site, the east does not.
- The west provides me with an easy +1 faith tile thanks to the dyes.
- The west barely has enough 4 yield tiles that I can see, the east is better there.
All this would be moot without being Russia. I would need to buy tiles to make the western spot work.
Funny enough no settles from my 2 former players so far.
Also I might reconsider my capital if I notice something better on the horizon when I move my warrior 1W.
Else the turn 2 settle is the superior choice, as crossing the river means a turn 4 settle.
