It's Clobberin' Time! Raging Barbs Highlands Tokugawa on Monarch

There has been a little exploration to the north, using the spies. Not much of note in the north east over by Cholo; Mansa did start moving his settler and escorts north from Tadmekka. The area in the northwest is a lot more promising, as I mentioned in the first part of my report. I have added some signs to the map for suggested city sites; I will try to remember to take some screenshots when I play the rest of the turns. The spot with the Incan ruins looks like a good site, with sheep and iron and a lot of forests and hills. Another city could go northeast of there for the corn.

Since we do not yet have Engineering, and it will be some time before we can get it, spears are what we have for anti-mounted. Julius is bringing lots of knights and elephants, and while samurai are strong units they are also a lot more expensive than spears while not really being much better against mounted units. First strikes help a little, but not enough given the difference in hammer cost.

The forbidden palace should probably go in the west, former Inca territory, if we want to build it now. But we need the prerequisite courthouses first, and those are still being built in the west. Former Tiwanaku just came out of revolt this last turn, and Advanced Wars the turn before, so not much has happened in those cities yet.

I will try to summarize more; this was mostly stream of consciousness as I played and took notes. I tried to grab some screenshots of the various stacks, but the stack info never appears for some reason. frown I could do a screen capture instead, that might work. Will have to try it tomorrow.

I am drawing a blank on HR city? (This is probably really obvious. I blame hunger! lol)

Was posting asleep last night, meant Heroic Epic city. Tell you what I'll just pretend my finger slipped from the E to the R. shhh

Edit: city name "You can't get Ye Flask". I know it's not an actual name, but it is the trope to a whole genre of them.

Brian’s naming suggestion is great. Jurrassic Park for Tiwanaku?

My Heroic Epic votes goes to Cholo or Streets of Rage. Cholo is probably the most useful.

Thanks for the name suggestions. Not sure we can include the apostrophe in "Can't" but I will see what will fit.

Time to finish the turns, and then an update with some screenshots. smile

Just FYI, I'm heading off on holiday for a week on Friday, so may now struggle to get a full turnset in before I go, depending when Haphazard finishes (I can fully understand why things are taking a while at this point). There will definitely be a period when I'm packing / travelling / settling in when I can't play. With Brian needing a skip, I suspect the best thing is for me to plan to play a shortened set on Tues/Wed. I don't want to rush things...

Every city is a Human Resources city, of course whip

I'm travelling from the 10th to the 16th and I don't have a Windows laptop, so I'll have to skip during that time. I should be able to get a turnset in before leaving if I can get the save before Saturday.

Seems like everyone is going to be busy or traveling soon. I should be available this month, but will be moving in July to a different city. I expect some Civ will be a nice break from packing, though, so I can probably find time for some turns. smile

City names have a limit of 15 characters so I could not get all of You Can't Get Ye Flask. frown Hmmm, shorten to "Can't Get Ye" or "You Can't Get" -- not sure which is better.

Julius is definitely moving his stack further west, still not sure if he is going to turn north or keep moving west.

Dammit. My wife has just reminded me we're out on Thursday evening, so packing Wed.

Does it make sense for RFS-81 to take the the next turnset? If the Wi-Fi is adequate I should have all the time in the world to play next week.

I'm before RFS?

It looks like roster goes:

Zalson
RFS-81 (out 6/10-6/16)
haphazard1 - UP
Brian Shanahan (out until 6/8) - skip
shallow_thought (out 6/7 - 6/15?) - UP next

I'm not too concerned if people need skips or swaps. We just have to keep it organized...

Yeah sorry. I was thinking that if I just skipped, and you played, then RFS-81 would likely then not be able to play, which would mean another skip, but it's not up to me to rewrite the roster.

With the (justified) time that Haphazard has needed, I'm going to struggle to fit any serious play in before next Monday - and I may not be able to play then. With Brian out that makes a bit of a mess of the roster. Not sure what to suggest.
