Caster of Magic Release thread : latest version 6.06!

Ha! Trickery and sorcery! Agreed that compatibility issues make loading saves from previous versions a risky prospect, but thank you for explaining how it can be done : )

Usually you can load it, but if there is a new spell, new unit, etc then it will result in that particular thing replaced (like fire elementals turning into war mammoths) so in that case it's better to avoid doing that.

Thanks for the great work on the Game Seravy.

The only persistent bug/issues I see is the AI is still not building walls around its home city late in the game, and continuing to defend that city with nothing but sprites well after spiders or better units were available.

How late are you seeing sprites? I've been trying to report it every time as I also consider it a big problem.

Unfortunately neither spiders nor cockatrices are better at defending cities than sprites, they are only weak to different tactics -also they are much more efficient to use for attacking- but they do replace them with lizards once they have those.

But Sprites have other problems, particularly in regard to AI vs AI wars. When two AIs war, its quite possible that the only city that is a valid target.. is the fortress. Due to sprites. In these cases, spiders and cockatrices are FAR better. So it's still worth reporting to get details.

Certainly but we still don't have anything else to replace them with as far as Nature summons go.
Anyway, what turn and most importantly on what difficulty?

What are you attacking with that you would rather fight cockatrices than sprites?

I can take out a sprite stack as long as I have a web spell, while those cockatrices will eat my whole stack of stag beetles no problem.

I have seen the AI (this was many builds ago) keep sprites in its un-walled home city after it had warlocks defending the city with walls right next to it.

Horsebowmen will eat up cockatrices. Halfling slingers, magicians, anything with a strong ranged attack. Sprites will do lots of damage to most ranged units.

And they have the same effect on sprites.
