Here's the list of my critiques of civ6 from PBEM76 and their current status
1UPT: still a problem imo Housing: still a problem Districts: Knowing the discount mechanics doesnt change that it is badly designed. Yes you can harvest + overflow them to completion but late cities are still not worth it unless you are harvesting for units. Movement: Still a problem UI: Still a problem. We are playing unmodded game, as we should, so this stands. Missionaries: Solved. Snapback: Still a problem Ruins: still a problem Iron: Hopefully wont be a problem with custom map but no thanks to Firaxis. I would nominate Trasson and Cornflakes as RB citizens of the millennium for their WB discovery. Warmongers: Still a SP problem. Seoul: Solved in expansion, but R&F i read brings a lot of other problems. So a wash Anti-Cav: Solved DLC: Still a problem Slowdown: Still a problem Barbarians: Still a problem Late Beeline: Still a problem but I would love to be proven wrong. Extra AI units: Oh well. By snapback, do you mean re-centering the view on the active unit? I was playing around with the hotkeys, and discovered that the "next unit" key (I think . by default) re-centers the screen. Civ4 I believe use the hotkey "c" so I've re-mapped the next unit to "c" in Civ6 due to muscle memory.
Yes and specifically the game centering on the next active unit when the active unit used up all their movement or does an action. This is the case also in civ4 but for some reason I never had a situation where I made a micro mistake because of the snapback in civ4. Now that I think about it, its weird.

It's a combination of the snapback being faster, prioritizing units that are physically close to the one you just moved, and the fact that it cancels if you manually select a unit. Meanwhile is Civ VI there's a long enough delay that you can easily click a unit, start setting up a move you wanted to take, and suddenly watch the window fly halfway around the world .

Looking at civ choices, there are some mighty fearsome civs with good military. One strategy is to start next to TBS or marcopolo, who do not have an early military civ, get the 1st GG, upgrade to swords and take cities with a ram? Definitely has downsides since i know TBS is an excellent Wesnoth player and could potentially outplay me, and im sure marcopolo played this game much more than I do Attacking the aztec player is also risky depending on how many lux he has. Second option is to plant early campuses and tech to knights but then I have a good chance of dying to an early military civ and their GG rush. Is the Varu a good attacking unit? Also I might have to rush the GG or GS in a competition with TBS if he takes pericles... Youtube Channel Twitch aka Mistoltin

Combat triangle is broken. This is sort of an extension of iron because in the early game, swords seem too strong. Theoretically, melee should beat anti-cav, who beats cav, who should beat melee except it doesnt. Horsemen and melee have the exact same strength and melee can get the oligarchy boost. Hence this is why having iron is so crucial. Also in the later eras, some parts of the triagle are just missing. Maybe this is intentionally a good thing? But civ4 didnt have a problem having the triangle system except it kind of evaporates in the later eras. Why is it that if you eliminate a civ that founded a religion, there is no way to take control of that religion by enhancing the beliefs? Maybe this is intentional? Thank you very much for organizing this game. Seems like the choice is to settle 1E to work the 3/1 in the first ring. SIP just seems so slow in getting that 2nd pop which adds 2 more cogs. Research mining, pottery, 1/2 of irrigation, AH? Warrior move will be NE, NW to scout potential campus placement. As to picks, the only real civ with early military is Rome so I hope I dont start next to Alham...
