[Spoilers] RFS-81 and haphazard1 don't know RtR, but won't let that stop them

AoW3 handled queued moves much better, IIRC. They were only executed after hitting End Turn.

Aaanyway, Utopia was captured, but I was able to take it back because it was guarded by only one chariot. There's no way for me to hold it, so I decided to raze it.

Poor Utopia. cry Well, at least it is not in enemy hands.

Queued moves can be a problem. I am not sure just how Civ IV decides when to process them; it does not seem to follow a set pattern, or at least not an obvious one. There is a command to force queued moves to be processed immediately, but there is no way to delay them to the end of the turn/last moves of the turn. And I am not aware of any easy way to cancel all outstanding queued moves, which would often be useful (after a war declaration, or after acquiring a new tech via trade and needing to reassign worker actions, etc.).

Any thoughts on the defensive plan from here?

I'm not going to get out of this alive. My plan is to keep chopping units at Rocky Paths and Golden Void. Maybe hide some units in the woods near my cities, so I have a chance to raze them after they're conquered.

Huh, I got a peace offer. The game's a lost cause anyway, but that's been the case since before the war declaration. Even if I reject, I can't force Charriu to fight me, so I might as well end the turn split. Plus, we might as well give other players a chance to capture my northern cities, right?

I think I'll accept, unless you want to talk me out of it.

Hmmm. Well, accepting peace would lock you into peace for 10 turns. But after that you would be free to resume fighting if you wanted to, such as believing you could recapture cities or otherwise make gains against Charriu.

So I do not see much downside to taking peace right now, unless you are in position to couter-attack within the next 10 turns and make gains. Peace would end the turn split and simplify things, and Charriu would be bound by the same 10 turn treaty if you are worried about a fresh offensive hitting your forces. I don't think Charriu's war weariness would be very much at this point, so maintaining the war would not hurt him much that way; I have seen situations where one side is desperate for peace to get out from under war weariness crushing their cities.

Overall, I do not see any real negatives to taking peace unless you were about to counter-attack, and there are positives. So might as well.

I've accepted the deal. Reporting will still be low this weekend because I'm busy with other things.

Golden Void builds a settler to refound Utopia. I want the ivory back! Thanks to a forest chop, I'll be able to whip next turn. I hope that Charriu didn't bring a settler along.

I switched from Polytheism to Sailing because shallow_thought founded Hinduism, and trying to race him for Monotheism would be silly. So I'll have to wait for some religion to spread naturally before OR would do me any good. Sailing will be useful because I plan to settle Fishing Town soon, so I'll want to build Maoi Heads there.

Space Love got its wheat back and works it and two cottages. Or did I already mention that?

Rules question: Can I change build orders after being notified of a turn split? If this is what I think it is, I don't want my latest forest chop to go into a settler!

No. When you are in a turn split you can`t change any builds as that would be unfair to the other party.
