At one point there were some concerted efforts to have more games at a lighter level than RB Premier League, but we kinda dropped the ball on that later. Which is a shame, because there are quite a few lurkers out there who feel a bit intimidated.
Nah it's not that, I'm like really bad at civ 4. I can barely beat Emperor, and even then only with a strong start and a solid civ and everything. I think even the average noob would just crush me.
We should play a duel sometime!
If it helps.. I usually play monarch where my win % is still only like 80%.

Yeah, I never managed to get into CIV IV MP here because my skill level was way too low. Tried once, failed spectacularly.

I didn't even own Civ IV until about 6 months ago. I've messed around in one or two games but I really don't know what I'm doing there. I enjoy the Civ IV reports at this website but I don't know what's happening in any of them.

Then why not jump into our greenies game. We have an open seat, look here.

Found Civ Fanatics when Civ4 came out and I couldn't get it running. Over there at some point I found the Succession Games, which became my absolute favorite things. Some of them I believe were called RB01, RB02 etc. or something along those lines. That's when I found out about RB. I didn't actually register until years (?) later when PB2 was starting and I wanted to be part of it despite being terrible.

My learn-to-play thread and the SG really helped me off the ground. Especially the SG! Give it a try when your schedule is less packed. Compared to Civ VI, I really like that different kinds of cities can be useful, instead of aiming for maximum production. I'm less fond of how combat works. I agree with all the arguments against 1UPT, but in the SG, we had loads of units, and each one is a unique snowflake with its own set of promotions. You can move them all at once, which speeds things up, but when it comes to the actual fighting... I like the MOO approach to masses of units much better.

Believe me, I was sorely tempted when I saw it - but I already signed up for Civ VI's PBEM13 even though I really don't even have time at the moment to properly update my PBEM12 thread (see, uh, my PBEM12 thread for details). I just can't make that kind of time investment right now and you guy would find yourselves needing a new sub within two weeks.

Someone on another non-civ related forum was interested in the release of Civ IV and posted Sullla's pre release writeup of a game. So I got Civ 4 and a little later saw him on CivFanatics with Sirian playing RB1 Cuban Isolationists. There were some talk of Epic games being played so I went and checked it out.

One time I just randomly bought Civ 4 complete edition around 2012 I think.
I did have absolutely no clue how to play it after 5 successive defeats at noble, so typing at google for civ 4 walkthrough and it lead me to Sulla's website and indirectly to here. After that emperor diffculty was won sometimes.
I did lurk here without account (I didn't have confidence to play against civ 4 veterans here), when civ 6 arrived and I joined here to play civ 6 PBEM's.
