Mount is clear. Probably Centaur too.

Less certain on the 3rd. Circle? Smuggler? Cliff? Dress? No clue really... I hope someone else has a better idea.

In order, I like:
Mount - well duh
Switch - used to hit the horse
Dress - specific divided dresses exist for riding
Centaur - not famed for allowing you to ride them, but they do have a horse-like nature

Apple - treat for a horse
Circle - around a track, or as part of ancient horse archer tactics
Bill - a polearm perhaps used against horsemen

First four are definitely strongest and I'm inclined to believe that none of them will be bad for us, so I'm happy for us to guess Mount plus any 2 of the other 3, using the other as a +1 later if needed.

I agree with Mount and Centaur. The third one is trickier. Pre spoilers my preference was Circle but I agree that Dress is likely the word we`re looking for. Switch is interesting, never heard of it in connection with riding. As all players like Dress as the third word it`s time to..

The Globe Theater hosted SHAKESPEARE's plays.
A globe is like a sphere, which is a 3-D CIRCLE.
You can use a STRING to measure distances across a globe.
Nothing else jumps out at me right now. I doubt it's any of the city words, or a different clue would have been given out.

Definitely SHAKESPEARE, the Globe theater.  After that, my mind goes to the cities and capital and landmarks and such, but there's way too many of those for this to be a 3-clue, so it's probably not any.

Which leaves CIRCLE and REVOLUTION as my next two guesses, if you're not talking about the things on the earth then you must be talking about the shape of the earth and the way it moves. Also the Globe theater was circular IIRC.

Less plausible but still possible:
BILL Shakespeare.  
Maybe OPERA?  The Globe is known for plays but I wouldn't be surprised if it put on operas too.
Maybe SWITCH for costume changes? This one feels like even more of a reach, though.

Reading Fenn's spoiler now:
I guess it could be STRING - I would think in terms of ornament hanger, many ornaments are glass globes.  I think I prefer REVOLUTION though.

The globe proscribes a CIRCLE while revolving in a REVOLUTION.

I like Mardoc's thinking behind REVOLUTION; it would be a good way to clue with SHAKESPEARE. I'd still prefer STRING over CIRCLE as a first-order connection, though.
