Foot and Racket seem obvious here.

After reading spoilers, I do think that we should guess an additional word. I ever so slightly favor Band over Card as the final Cake word.

I favor guessing Band too.

I'm okay with rolling the dice on Band.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Tripper, a person who trips someone or goes on a trip. Seems to me he's trying to tie in a word that is about tripping some and making them fall with travelling.

BEACH - take a trip to a beach
PIT - Trip into a pit
ROOT - roots can trip you
TRAIN - Take a trip on a train
FORCE - tripping can be violent

Ranked:
ROOT
BEACH
TRAIN

ROOT and TAIL - both are things that can trip you up
BEACH - I somehow have the idea of "beach tripper" being a phrase, but I don't know if it's legit or just because it's 12:45am and dear god the baseball game is finally over!
Perhaps FORCE if you want to think of it as in "the Force" being used to trip someone... or even more generically, the force of an impact can trip things.
TRAIN? You use them to go on trips?

I'll look at it again tomorrow after some sleep

Could refer to someone traveling, on a drug trip, or stumbling over an obstacle.

It's easy to trip on a ROOT.
Or on a LABrador retriever. Also, synthetic drugs are made in a LAB.
A TRAIN is often used for trips ...
... and a BEACH is a popular destination.

Edit for commentary on game state: we need three, red needs two. That means no passing!
