BEACH and TORCH are red.  Red wins!

Here's what the board looked like:

BANDSINKLABANGELTAIL
POUNDCROSSBRIDGEFLUTEBEACH
ROOTGOLDCARDRACKETDIAMOND
ROUNDTRAINRINGFORCETELESCOPE
PITFOOTPLANERULERTORCH

Post mortem (written as I went along, so some of the tenses may be weird):

Captain 3:  I was mostly worried about getting BRIDGE without getting CROSS smile.  I intended RULER and PLANE to go with it, so I was very happy to see you settling on them.  I worried quite a bit when I discovered that BAND captain is a thing, but fortunately y'all talked yourselves out of it.  Then when you pointed out TELESCOPE, I regretted not including it as Captain 4 or some such...but the suggestion that 'Mardoc would have clued Pirate if he meant telescope' made that seem like a good idea, especially since we also needed GOLD and SINK.

I don't think I regret not going for Pirate to start...wouldn't have likely gotten PLANE or BRIDGE with that, after all.  Was concerned about BAND and BEACH , since those seemed like plausible Pirate words too and y'all had already considered them, which made them more likely to come up again.  Another worry is that the Jolly Roger included crossed bones, and of course I couldn't afford you to guess CROSS.  I didn't even realize that an X on a map is a cross.

I decided to go for this one mostly because Bob make me nervous with his Cake clue, which not only got three words red but left red with the team leaning toward BAND.  It became clear that it was possible for Red to clear the board in three clues, a 4 followed by two pairs, so I needed to be able to threaten three clues as well.  And I didn't have a clue in mind for my other three missing words...otherwise I'd have waited for him to fill in BAND and/or BEACH first.

Y'all ended up guessing the exact words I wanted, but the process made me...very very nervous lol.  Your list of possible guesses was all blue and red and black, not even grey.  It worked perfectly, but it could have been a disaster.  I definitely wouldn't have tried this if I wasn't under pressure, but 'we lose if I don't gamble' causes the gamble smile.

Fortunately at this point Bob was under substantial pressure, with five words remaining.  In addition, several of his words were plausible blue, which might push his team away from guessing them.  Although I can't see a good way to clue my last three words in one go, he might not realize that.  If he tries to get all five, then there's a good chance of a slip that buys me the time to finish this more carefully, and hopefully takes away some red herrings in the process.  What I was most afraid of is a solid 2-clue that gets BAND and two of his words, forcing me to push for a weak three-clue next round.  Especially if he 2-clues in a way that leaves an obvious 2-clue remaining.  So when he clued Snowshoe, I had to try something. Tiki was an obvious option once he was down to those two words, so again it was go big or lose. Unfortunately I was even less good at cluing these words than the Pirate words.
PIT ROOT FORCE

Trap?  Trip?  Transplant?  Midichlorians (root?) Dagobah (pit?)
I was leaning toward Faceplant 3 - Roots and pits and force can all make you trip and fall.  Don't want to go with trip itself because that would tempt Beach.  But, I wasn't sure faceplant is a single word, it might be a phrase...so I tried to get the same effect with Tripper which I knew was a legal clue. Didn't work, and I'm not sure it could have worked.

I think all in all Bob had the easier board, but it's hard to distinguish that from Bob just being better at making clues.  Going first could have been a big enough advantage if I had been smarter at making clues and didn't paint myself into a corner.

Good game, well played all round.

Incidentally, I immediately saw Root for Captain, as Joe Root is the current England test cricket captain. Somehow that didn't seem likely to be the intended link with this group, though it turns out it was the right colour.

Nice round, all.

I'll happily spy master this next one, but if one of you who hasn't clued yet want to, go for it.

I'm rather busy at the moment, which is why I haven't put my name forward. Really enjoying guessing though.

Good game. I`m glad that we managed to get our guesses right. @Mardoc: Those three words at the end look difficult to clue, not sure if there is a better word for Pit, Root, Force.

Commodore as spymaster is fine with me.

Erosion, maybe, for the last clue? Agreed that it's a tough set.

Go for it Commodore.

Maybe entrapped:3 would have worked? Harder to tell now that I've seen the board

I'm good with anything for spymaster

Good game everyone.

If nobody else wants it I'm up for being spymaster again.

If I was going to do the same board again, I think I'd have to try a different approach for the first two clues, so I didn't end up at that spot in the end smile.  But, well, I still could have pulled it off if Red hadn't followed Bob's cues so well...give me time to do a 2-clue and a 1-clue and those three words are a lot easier to get.

I'd give Pindicator priority since he wasn't in Codenames 21, but I'm happy for you to have it if he doesn't want it.
