Sweden - Grotsnot + Banzailizard
Norway - suboptimal + Alhambram
Denmark - TheArchduke + Chevalier

Sounds good then. I already asked for a forum, will notfiy you when it is up. I highly suggest playtesting. Things can be dicey, if you do not know what are you doing in this scenario.

Seeing as we're all perma-allied, do we want any explicit rules on body-blocking? The Oresund, Skaggerack, and the northern coastal pass (pre-Knarrs) are all susceptible to traffic jams even when no one's deliberately trying to.

I think that it is diffcult to enforce rules here because as you say traffic jams happens easily here. Just argee to not deliberate block around Oresund and Skaggerack whole time and northern coastal pass till everyone get Knarrs tech. Just keep everthing moving around that areas.

For moving land units, it can happen over land partially since Berserkers lack movement penalty when embarking/disembarking, Denmark's lands are flat and actually save up 1/2 turns of moving land units from Baltic sea to North sea.
For Sweden, maybe Norway can create a trade route on turn 2 from Stavanger to Kopingsvink which do pass Oslo, which gives Sweden an alternative land route.

Might this be a situation where messaging using pins visible to all might be acceptable to help avoid traffic jams and/or tell someone to get out of the way?
Sending units to their death since 2017.

Don't do what I did: PBEM 3 - Arabia , PBEM 6 - Australia This worked well enough: PBEM 10 - Aztecs Gamus Interruptus: PBEM 14 - Indonesia
Gathering Storm Meanderings: PBEM 15 - Gorgo You Say Pítati, I Say Potato: PBEM 17 - Nubia The Last of the Summer Wine: PBEM 18 - Eleanor/England
Rhymin' Simon: PBEM 20 - Indonesia (Team w/ China)

Dunno whether pins are visible for everyone, otherwise we can message about it in organzing thread here.

Also I want to warn everyone for a bug related William the Conqueror Great Person, if activated outside city, the granted trader is stuck at that spot and can't ever start trade route for rest of game and it is needed to put him at sleep before able to click next turn.
So always activate it in city and you need move other units out city before you can activate William the Conqueror GP.

You can set individual pins to be visible to everyone or to teammates or, I think, even to specific players. Though I would be inclined against the latter.

Traffic jams are gonna happen. It's nice to be nice when possible but it isn't always reasonable. To me the important question is whether to have a gentleman's agreement against deliberately getting in the way. Since this could also plausibly extend to things like sieges, good raiding spots, settler sites, healing spots, or what-have-you, my gut is "play nice in Scandinavia and its waterways, law of the jungle elsewhere". Prevents totally strangling each other but allows for outmaneuvering in the field. Thoughts? I think that more or less lines up with what Alhambram suggested but don't want to assume smile

I just don't want a "please move" pin to be a binding obligation that leads to angry arbitration cases. In the Channel, pillaging and attacking and transiting all legitimately get in the way of each other. Especially considering we all want to do some pillaging and attacking and are competing for the best spots. Double especially when there's an AI unit embarked for some damn fool AI reason and you can't attack it because someone else is in the way and arrggghhh now I've gotta fall back or get shot by 5 archers and 3 walls why why why (totally hypothetical situation mischief )

PS Apologies if this is all stating the obvious

PPS One scenario-appropriate alternative would be to pre-agree on a rate for a "toll" to move a unit out of the way but I dunno how well that'd work in practice. If at all, it's probably better suited to a hypothetical Vikings PBEM 2 once we've got some data on how it plays out

Yeah, it is somewhat what I did have in my mind: around Scandinavia play nice and outside Scandinavia lawless zone.

I would support this as well, Do not clog the Utrecht route for Denmark, North Sea for Norway and the Baltic Sea (although that one is not that dangerous).

Outside of Scandinavia. Everything goes.

Ok, Denmark is up first, so I started a PBEM game, to see if we can do this per PYDT.

Else we will do it per email like the good old days.:D

It seems that it isn't possible due not able to pick Viking leaders at PYDT, I think. Or maybe it do work, it is worth to test.
By the way I can't join due password.
