So for blue team, Sink + Board + Drill now for Lifeboat, does anyone disagree? Dave might be able to go unlimited now to catch us back up.

That was basically my initial preference anyway smile.

Foreign, unlimited

Unlimited on the second turn?!?  bang

Well then, we need to get all 9 this turn because I don't see any other reason why unlimited is necessary. With Crash gone I have no objections to Sink, Board and Drill plus Dave seems to think it's ok given the unlimited clue (either that or Red will easily win next turn). For Foreign, let's see:

Moscow
Tokyo
Czech
Sign
Cheese
Virus

Can also see Fish, Satellite, Minotaur and Mammoth. Don't have any strong preferences on Foreign since we need 6. I would guess the Lifeboat words first in case Foreign is not cluing 6 words, but that probably doesn't matter too much.

Well, that looks like confirmation that Dave doesn't hate our lifeboat guesses.

Most obvious Foreign words are CZECH, MOSCOW, TOKYO.  Seems unlikely that we could have gotten all of those, so I'm inclined to guess the lifeboat words first.  Assuming that at least one of them is blue and none are assassin or red, but I could easily see Dave being willing to have us guess a grey if that's what it takes to get lifeboat put to bed.

Strongly disagree that Dave meant to clue six Foreign words here.  I see this as following T-Hawk's strong suggestion to finish off Lifeboat and then make at least some forward progress.  Unlimited is the only approach that lets us guess more than one Lifeboat word legally, I think - pretty sure it wouldn't be allowed to clue Foreign 6 to really mean Foreign 3 + 3 extra guesses.

The one thing I can clarify on is the number.  The rules do say that the number given must be the number of words that relate to the clue.  You can't say "clue 4" when you really only mean 1 word and want the team to guess 3 more from past information.  You're meant to have only +1 extra guess per turn to make up for past mistakes.  If the spymaster wants to allow extra unclued guesses beyond +1, the right way to do this is "Clue, unlimited".  The tradeoff for getting the extra guesses is not knowing exactly how many are being clued for.

If we pick off all 9 guesses in one turn, that will be the most legendary feat ever. smile But it would probably be smarter to stop after 3 Lifeboats and at most 4 Foreigns, which would leave us 2 to go and hopefully one turn against two for red to get their remaining 4.

I say to start with Sink + Board + Drill in that order. Lewwyn, if you agree, you can point to those.

Tokyo + Moscow + Czech are obvious choices for Foreign. I like Virus too, then would stop there.

T-Hawk did specifically mention going unlimited to catch us back up, so I guess I won't object too much to not go all the way. I just don't see a reason why we need to guess all of our remaining Lifeboat words now unless Red can threaten a win next turn. If Red can't threaten a win next turn, a far safer clue would be Foreign 4 (or whatever the number is) and then go unlimited next turn. That would clarify how many Foreign words there are and still gives us the chance to guess our Lifeboat words.

As it stands we have no idea how many words Foreign was meant for. To me, the unlimited now feels like either a desperate attempt at taking a shot at all 9 words cause Red can win next turn, or at the very least there are not many Foreign words that are worse then grey. Either way, passing feels like a mistake.
