Path of Exile, a free to play Diablo like Action Role Playing Game

I have tried this game a couple of times, and got turned off due to its complexity, until a few months ago I watched a couple of YouTube videos explaining the basics of the game. In my opinion, this is game is the true successor of Diablo II, with a great community and a developer that actively interacts with the player base. I've tried Grim Dawn and Torchlight II, but these games have not been able to hook me as much as 'POE'.

A promising new season is starting on December 7, and I was wondering if there is anyone already playing this game, or someone wanting try out something new, who wants to try some multiplayer?

I would prefer playing on an E.U. server, but ping on eastern U.S. servers seems manageable.

A pretty good guide (some things are out of date, but great stuff nonetheless):

An amazing game that keeps getting better with each league, I highly recommend it.

I've been playing regularly since Harbinger league (last august) and will definitely be playing Betrayal when it's out. Looks very promising indeed.
I'm EU.

Something to check out too are the new private leagues,if there are enough PoE players here

I love the game, BTW. The complexity adds to replayability, and it's free and vastly improved from over a few years ago. If you liked Diablo or action RPGs in general I highly recommend trying it out

Cool, I think my steam is ilios.civ or peliad, send me friend request. smile

I have only now really started with the end game stuff (maps etc), because I've enjoyed just trying out new builds.

I've been playing pretty faithfully since Forsaken Masters (though I do occasionally take a league off or mostly off to avoid burnout - I've mostly punted Delve, for example.) I know Nicolae plays (not sure if he's ever around here anymore, not that I am either) since we're "friends" in game.

Never really understood why it didn't catch on more with this community, it really is a fantastic game with a lot of depth and replayability and hits the sweet spot for the historically frugal RB crowd on price (free.) Anyway, anyone whose starting and needs some tips or just wants to BS in game can send me a friend request to GasparRB. (I play through the standalone client, not Steam.) I'll definitely be playing Betrayal, looks quite interesting from the teases.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Cast on critical strike (CoC) will get a big buff in 3.5, anyone thinking of best builds? Assassin/Trickster Charged Dash?

I've been playing PoE on and off for a couple of years now. It's a decent game. What update is 3.5? Betrayal? Or something sooner than that? Sounds like a great change. I wanted a CoC buff since forever.

I just watched a 10 minute video overview of the game...the skilltree seems to have the size of a star map of the known universe. eek  lol

Is it possible to beat this game casually by just playing or do I have to study 100+ pages of guides, builds and theorycrafting to have a chance? hammer

I'll wait for the patch before deciding what to play, IDK what they buff/nerf yet. It's usually out 2-3 days before league start. Playing CoC is very enticing though, regardless of power level.

Yes, update 3.5 = Betrayal, so in about 1 week.

The more you study the easier it will be, but you can jump in and learn as you go along. They've added an ingame tutorial this year which should cover the most important topics. Never looked at it personally though. But don't expect your first character to be able to beat the endgame if you're not following a guide. Even a "failed" character can farm low tier maps though, and you can easily go again using the currency you've aquired to quickly get a 2nd character up to speed.

Just for clarification: What exactly is the endgame? Are these additional challenges after you have beaten the final boss in the story? Or will I most likely get stuck halfway through the story and have to restart if I mess up a build?
