[spoilers] We're up all night to get mamluk-y

Not a lurker anymore!

I started playing Civ 5 in September 2014, and it quickly became my favorite game, even though I mostly played singleplayer. I started playing Civ 6 in November 2016, soon after release. It was disappointing at first, but I started to love it too. I've loved reading the PBEMs, and I'm super excited to finally play one of my own!

Here's my plan for the next ~20 turns.

Production map:
- Scout (30 production at 5/turn - finishes on t7)
- "Filler" slinger for one turn
- Settler (80 production at 8/turn for 10 turns - finishes on t17)
- Slinger (35 production at 5/turn - finishes on t24)

Food map:
- Work the 2/2 grassland forest hill
- 15 food at +2/turn - grow to 2 pop at turn 8, work the 1/3 forest hill (1 food leftover)
- Drop back to 1 pop when the settler's done, work the cattle (3/0) when I re-grow to 2 pop

Science map:
- I don't need Irrigation yet - coffee plantations are worthless and I can't profitably sell coffee to someone
- Probably Animal Husbandry -> 60% of Archery (wait for the boost) -> Mining

My grand plan:

There are 3 religions in a 6-player game. I expect Japan (Grotsnot) and Russia (TBS) to take the first two by around t55. So I'll get a Holy Site by that date and pick some good military beliefs to synergize with conquering.

EDIT: Cornflakes pointed out that there are actually 4 religions. This changes things, because I doubt that Gorgo-Greece, Rome or England will want to spend resources on a third/fourth religion. I can't wait for them to make the third religion - otherwise I won't be able to use religion effectively. I need a religion for infrastructural bonuses, but I don't have a quick way of getting one. My best bet is to build Stonehenge.

My biggest advantage is the Mamluk. The other civs are Japan, Russia, Gorgo-Greece, Rome and (I'm guessing) England. Only Rome and Greece with early-game UU's, and they're both 2 movement - they're probably not going to utilize the conquest-route. But Mamluks are powerful, 4 movement, and available relatively early.

Because of my intended conquest, I can't build too much. Only 4 cities max, and early monuments everywhere. This is because I need to hit Feudalism civic to boost Stirrups (the technology for Mamluks).

Assuming I fail to conquer effectively (aka Mamluks obsolete before I win the game), I'll need to fall-back on my faith bonuses. My unique University provides faith, which is not that good, but might give me a slight lead. If I can outrun everyone in religion, I have a modest +1 science per foreign city that follows my religion.

There are 4 religions on a small map, not 3

PLayed the turn and took a long look at the lands.

Lets say I'm not that happy with what I've seen.

Pics and more once I find time (maybe later today or on the weekend)

I think we expect as much. Thanks for keeping this going.

So lets start with a nice overview:
EDIT: Markers are from MPTF

4 cities is ok a campus nearly finished also but something seems strange.

For one there seems a lot of faith on my tiles. For 2 no strategic resources shown in topline. Third 2 cities are unhappy and then I realise There is not a single improvement anywhere. The rice next to the capital? - not irrigated, the stone there?- no quarry the various cows? no pasture. Oh joy.

But we are researching Engineering without any boost and even better the research is set to do Iron Working and then for Machinery (which of course would need all the missing techs.

Since we don't use Amenities it makes sense we run for Games next. Surely those Entertainment-district are better then any Luxury

And what is with those many faithful tiles?  That is our glorious pantheon smile

Has this one been used before here?

The really great thing of this inheritance is that MPTF has already laid down the foundations of various Holy Districts around the empire. Thus making sure that the cities can't produce another district soon.

Example at the roman border (Who needs encampments anyway)

Great how the HS blocks the only other first-ring-tile with a few hammers.

Anpther great HS-example at our seaside:

So how do we fare compared to our neighbours?

City -count looks good at least as long as you ignore the total lack of any resources.

Tech is bad but culture is still ok - Building CD will become difficult so I expect to fall seriously behind here

Ranking:

I have excluded Japan from the previous screenshots because he is down at his last city. The former Empire of the rising Sun is now part of Alhambram's Roman Empire.

So Alhambram (who has already shown in PBEM 2 that he knows how to use potential of OP-Units) has in reality 7-8 Cities soon.

I would really like to buy a worker once I have the money in 3 turn but I fear I need it to upgrade the slingers.

research is set to Masonry (need Walls - Archers alone won't cut it against seasoned Legions) and Mysticism (to get a government switch in 3 turns) start producing Workers and start to improve the land.
